I am from Alpine, Utah where I am surrounded by beautiful mountains. I haven't been painting for very long and was inspired by the beautiful surroundings near my home. I have always admired the ability of others to create beautiful paintings and have also always had a love of art. I started oil painting this year when my wife had to get some things at an arts and crafts store and invited me to com
e along. I hadn't ever really been to an arts and crafts store before, but thought I'd check it out. I found myself wandering around the store until I came to the painting section. I was immediately drawn to everything and decided I was going to buy some stuff and finally try my hand at oil painting. I had seen the many paintings that hung in my family's home of those done by my grandma and had always wanted to give it a try. It was close to Mother's Day and so I thought it might be nice to paint a picture for my mom. Well, one painting led to the next. I had discovered a real passion for painting and find myself wanting to try and experiment every day. I am colorblind, and because of that my wife has to constantly help me get the colors right and somehow it all seems to work. I hope that I can share my love of the world we live and of oil painting through my work. I would love to make painting a full time job. I find myself thinking about a painting and thinking of ideas for future paintings throughout the day and as I lay down at night. I am constantly seeing the world through the eyes of a painter. There are so many beautiful things that surround us and a painting seems to help us slow down a bit and remember and notice those little things that mean the most.
