Welcome to Fast and Slow Studio
In our workshops, we use the moving body as a medium to explore painting and creative art forms to help us reach a state of mind-body connection. We use somatic methods inspired by yoga, post-modern dance, and kinesthetic
awareness to help us become more aware of our bodies as we are exploring artistic expressions that enter in dialogue with our body. The term Fast and Slow was originally inspired by a book called Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman. The idea of fast and slow refers not only to the fast and slow movements of the body, but also in the way we feel the rhythm of life - fast and slow.

王譯薇 1987年出生於台灣彰化，成長於厄瓜多、墨西哥和祕魯。童年時期浸於以繪畫描繪佛教、中美洲及前哥倫布時期的神話故事，年幼時期即開始學習書法，對書法以單一筆畫即能傳達各種力度及個性的變化感到深深著迷。她在青少年時期透過祕魯劇場團體CUER2開始接觸肢體劇場，該團體讓她學會以即興、有機的肢體動作做為建構敘事的表達語言。這些早年的經驗形塑了王譯薇汲取東亞書法、塗鴉、石窟壁畫、姿態抽象（gestural abstraction）、即興舞蹈、芭蕾舞蹈等元素所生成的繪畫語彙。2019 年師事法國畫家 Philippe Cognée 。繪畫創作 Running Fast and Slow 於2021 年入選桃源國際藝術獎。畫作近期於桃園市立美術館，法國Galerie Loire 及 Le Dôme 表演劇場展出。2009 年於美國賓州大學工程學士畢業，2022 年於法國 TALM 高等藝術設計學院藝術系 (D.N.S.E.P.) 碩士學位畢業並獲評審祝賀。目前創作探索如何將芭蕾動作運用在書法性筆觸的扭轉力。
Born in Taiwan (1987, Changhua) and raised in Ecuador, Mexico and Peru, WANG Yi-Wei spent a lot of her childhood drawing Buddhist, Mesoamerican and pre-Columbian mythologies. She learned Chinese calligraphy at an early age, fascinated by how variations in energy and personality can be transmitted through a single brushstroke. As a teenager, she discovered physical theater with the theater group CUER2 from Peru, introducing her to using improvisational organic body movements as a language to construct a narrative. These early experiences have helped shape a painting vocabulary inspired by East Asian calligraphy, graffiti, cave paintings, gestural abstraction, dance improvisation and ballet. In 2019 she studied painting with French painter Philippe Cognée while working in his studio. In 2021 her painting Running Fast and Slow was selected as a finalist of the Taoyuan International Art Award. Her work has recently been exhibited at Taoyuan Museum of Fine Art, Galerie Loire, and Théâtre Le Dôme in France. from the School of Art and Design TALM (2022) with congratulations from the jury. She is currently exploring how to use ballet movements to create a torsion force in the calligraphic brushstroke.
