Chamras Prommin consistently expresses his artistic spirit, as seen in this painting. This piece was created as a keepsake for relatives during the Thai New Year in 1989. It was painted quickly on the morning of the event.

Because of this, the work feels quite different from pieces that take longer to complete. When we look at it, it brings a sense of calm and comfort.

หากศิษย์คนหนึ่งจะรำลึกถึงอาจารย์ของตนเอง ด้วยวิธีเดียวกับที่อาจารย์เคยบันทึกใบหน้าของตนไว้ นี่อาจเป็นหนึ่งในวิธีคิดที่เรียบง่ายที่สุด หากขณะเดียวกันก็ลึกซึ้งอย่างยิ่ง

นี่คือใบหน้าของจ่าง แซ่ตั้ง ที่ศักดิ์สิริ มีสมสืบ ศิลปินแห่งชาติ สาขาวรรณศิลป์ ผู้เป็นศิษย์ของจ่าง แซ่ตั้งและเคยใช้ชีวิต กิน นอน อาศัยอยู่ใต้ชายคาของอาจารย์ในห้วงวัยแห่งการแสวงหาความหมายของชีวิตเป็นผู้บันทึกไว้

นิทรรศการ UNDERFACE คือบันทึกแห่งความรู้สึกนึกคิดที่ศักดิ์สิริ มีสมสืบ สร้างสรรค์ขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่องตลอดช่วงปี 2023–2026 ตลอดระยะเวลา 3 ปี เปรียบประหนึ่งการเบ่งบานจากภายใน ดั่งดอกไม้ที่ผลิบานโดยมิได้ใส่ใจต่อผลลัพธ์ในเชิงความงาม หากเติบโตไปตามแรงผลักดันที่อยู่ลึกที่สุดภายในจิตใจ

If a disciple were to remember his teacher in the same way that the teacher once recorded his own face, this might be one of the simplest yet most profound gestures imaginable.

This is the face of Tang Chang, rendered by Saksiri Meesomsueb, National Artist in Literature, who was once Tang Chang’s student and, in his youth, lived, ate, and slept under his teacher’s roof while searching for the meaning of life.

The exhibition UNDERFACE is a record of thoughts and feelings that Saksiri Meesomsueb developed continuously over the years 2023–2026. Created over a three-year period, the works may be seen as a kind of inward blossoming—like a flower blooming from within, unconcerned with the outcome of beauty, and instead unfolding according to the deepest inner impulse.

Chamras Prommin tells stories from the perspective of a local, crafting vivid visual language through his distinctive techniques. Especially during the years 1970–1973, his skills matured and stabilized, allowing him to express narratives with remarkable naturalness.

You are invited to explore a comprehensive exhibition of his paintings from every period witnessing a forward-looking past captured on canvas through nearly 60 years of local oil painting tradition.

This collection comes from a private archive, brought out for public viewing at this rare moment an opportunity that may not come again once the exhibition concludes.
