A shelf of books tells you what a place thinks time is for. Ours holds travel guides for countries people are saving up for, novels, children's stories, a watercolour of tulips sitting where a book could go instead. None of it is in a hurry.

Most cups of coffee arrive with no face attached. The bag says a country, sometimes a region, and that is where the story stops. We keep ours on the wall instead, because the beans in your cup were grown by Akha farming families in the highlands of Northern Thailand, picked by hand, and roasted here in Chiang Mai.
