This body of work emerges from a process of working with nature rather than attempting to control it. The artist places himself as part of the process, allowing color, water, weight, and gravity to move according to their own conditions. His role is to stay with these movements, to observe, and to make space for what gradually appears on the surface.
In Made by Nature (the red painting), the flow, interweaving, and spreading of pigment arise from the movement of water and gravity, rather than from an effort to compose an image with fixed meaning. Created in a longan orchard, nature is not a backdrop but a collaborator. What appears on the canvas is the result of a relationship between color, water, surface, time, and place—along with the artist himself as part of the same natural continuum.
In another work, the artist uses his own body as part of the process. The hand dipped in pigment and the marks that emerge on the surface register moments of perception shaped by contemplative practice. Line, color, and gesture unfold from staying with what is happening, rather than from a desire to express emotion or ideas.
Together, these works form a gentle dialogue between what might be called “outer nature” and “inner nature,” without drawing a fixed boundary between them. The artist, too, belongs to this same process. The works do not seek to explain or direct, but instead allow the reality of arising, remaining, and passing away to appear through material, movement, and time.
What viewers encounter may not be a single meaning, but a field of perception—an open space to sense change, impermanence, and the quiet beauty of things as they are.
