In Chinese culture, the lotus carries a beautiful double meaning. The word for lotus, hé huā (荷花), shares the same pronunciation as hé (和), meaning harmony. Rising immaculate from muddy waters, the lotus is also a timeless symbol of purity.

Within Lotus-Harmony Home, Aaron Gan brings together 12 lotuses — representing completeness and balance — in a gentle composition of flowing washes and expressive brushwork.

🇸🇬 Every city has landmarks. A home has memories.

As Singapore celebrates another National Day, we celebrate the stories that live beyond the skyline—the familiar streets, old shophouses, neighbourhood corners and everyday moments that have quietly shaped who we are.

Art has a unique way of preserving these memories, reminding us that our heritage is not only found in history books, but also in the places we pass by, the colours we remember, and the stories we continue to share.

At Gallery 1819, we are proud to showcase artists whose works capture the spirit, character and evolving identity of Singapore.

This National Day, may we continue to cherish our heritage, celebrate our creativity, and look forward to the future together.

Happy 61st National Day, Singapore! ❤️🇸🇬
