RED EARTH is a duo exhibition by Tears for the Akuma and BODHI that confronts themes of war and human conflict in response to the realities of the current global climate. Through site-specific installation and visual intervention, the exhibition reflects on desensitisation, emotional distance, and the normalisation of violence in contemporary society.

Intentionally situated within the gallery’s washroom, RED EARTH challenges conventional exhibition spaces through irony and discomfort. The placement reflects on privilege, complacency, and the emotional distance many hold toward the realities faced by victims of war.

What is the cost of our ordinary violence in our ordinary lives?

An early brunch no one shows up on time to. A comfortable silence broken by someone asking, "how's life." And, a late night chat that ends with a hopeful β€œsee you soon”.

conversations with friends follows a dialogue between three creatives in their twenties, as they navigate the growing pains of early adulthood together.

A chat about adulting (without the 101), laments about change and a future we couldn't seem to see past our outstretched palms β€” somehow found their home in a stanza from Victoria Chang's poem, Love Letters:

There is a bird and a stone

in your body. Your job is not

to kill the bird with the stone.

From this poem bloomed our letters, texts and images that respond to, interrupt, decipher, and complete one another’s voices.

Amidst wandering through the strange, generative discomfort of change, this exhibition tenderly holds the simple joys and freeing highs alongside the growing pains, goodbyes, griefs, and emotions that haven't yet found their names.

It is a literal coming of age, witnessed and made together.

And it ends β€” or perhaps continues β€” with a question: is there a bird and stone in you?

The love:sick series contains ten works reflecting on love as a prolonged state - one shaped by waiting, absence, and the quiet endurance of feeling. It explores what remains after a love that once lived: the spaces it leaves behind, the rituals it imprints, and the process of learning how to hold each memory gently.

Moving between intimate interiors and shared streets, the works trace a romantic relationship through intimate spaces and the emotions left behind. Each piece marks a moment of transition β€” between presence and distance, attachment and letting go.

love:sick is both an ending and an offering: a collection shaped over time, now opened to the viewer as a space for reflection, recognition, and connection as they paint their own narrative over these works.
