Rooted Resilience

An old tree carries its marks openly – grooves, cracks and traces of weather, wind and years gone by. It does not endure despite them, but through them.

Its strength lies in what time has shaped, in what has yielded, adapted and continued to grow. The golden veins are not signs of fragility, but of resilience. Despite pressure, despite the passing years, the slender branches still reach toward the light.

The sacred is not found outside of history, but within it.

Not in what is perfect.
But in what has endured.

The series consists of four original paintings, each measuring 20 × 20 cm, and will soon be delivered to the gallery.

ROOTED RESILIENCE

A first glimpse.

One painting from a series of four interconnected works inspired by resilience, growth and the way nature carries time within it.

The story is not complete yet.

Three paintings remain to be revealed. 🍃

Rooted Resilience

A new four-part series is slowly taking shape.

Layers of texture, gold and light —
a meditation on what keeps growing, even through resistance.

More will be revealed soon.

Some works begin as experiments.

I actually started out painting in oil many years ago, before gradually moving toward acrylic and layered textured surfaces.

Recently I found myself returning to oil again — not to replace acrylic, but to better understand the difference between the materials.
What surprised me was how differently they hold presence.

Acrylic allows me to build structure, resistance and layered surfaces over time.

Oil moves differently.
Softer.
Slower.
Less architectural.

Instead of building the surface in the same way, this painting gradually became more about atmosphere, stillness and something quietly emerging through light and water.

Not a new direction —
just part of an ongoing exploration of material, passage and what slowly reveals itself through the process.

Some places appear first as a whisper.

For a long time, this city existed only
in fragments —

in notes,
in sketches,
in light and silence.

A city with two towers,
half hidden in mist and memory.

Now the story is slowly beginning to emerge.

It’s time for the glow of yellow gold tones again.

This piece was first called Golden Moment.
But sometimes a painting reveals itself slowly, layer by layer, and after living with it for some time, the title no longer felt true.

I renamed it — Råmärke — an old Swedish word for a Ancient Boundary Stone. There is an old saying that one should not move an ancient boundary stone. Something placed before us, carrying memory, direction and what remains through time.

Perhaps that was what this work was holding all along.

Original Acrylic and pastel on 300 gsm watercolor paper

Some works shift character when scale changes.
This piece was recently produced as a unique edition (1/1) in 60 × 70 cm — a format created separately from the smaller prints.

Alongside this, a limited edition in 30 × 40 cm also exists.

Same image.
Different presence.
