This project explores how tools shape the process of making.Ceramic craft is guided by tools that come with inherited expectations — how they’re held, what gestures they allow, and the forms they tend to produce. For this project, I’ve built tools with no link to ceramic craft to interrupt those habits and open up new movements. I treat tools as active participants in the process. In the approach I’m working with now, body, tool, and clay interact directly, and the form grows out of that exchange.

As a counteract to everything we were taught about treasures, I began to search for traces of my late father. Around his studio there were familiar signs of him in unfinished projects and coffee stains. I found that the stain is not necessarily a flaw, but a finding. The nature of the stains is careless and yet care
returns with the gesture of noticing.

Considering the clay as a sacrificial surface, I let residues from coffee travel across, through and within the object, leaving a mark that reflects the action but transforms it. The work seeks to reconsider the stain as something worthy of attention – a material that carries meaning and memory.

Nadine Wilde - ”An Ever Changing View”

Part of the ongoing graduation exhibition “This Way”, featuring the newly graduated master’s students from the Craft Department at HDK-Valand – Academy of Art and Design. On view until Sunday 17th

An Ever Changing View is a woven sculptural work that explores the instability and fragmentation of memory. Through an auto-ethnographic approach, it draws on inherited narratives, folklore and a connection to plants, reflecting a layered identity shaped between England and Bulgaria. Blurred, shifting imagery operates as both aesthetic and symbolic means, achieved through processes such as screen-printing and painting directly onto the warp before weaving.

Myrto Patramani - “Always Coming Home”

“Always Coming Home” is an installation grounded in material exploration, symbolism, and storytelling. The installation explores land as both a physical and emotional entity, carrying memory, mythology, and personal history through hybrid sculptures and fantastical landscapes. ”

”This spatial installation structures visibility and invisibility. It holds absence as an ongoing condition produced by contemporary border regimes, where certain lives are rendered ungrievable and vanish beyond recognition.”

Just i denna dubbelhet tar utställningen sin form.
