Anna Nova Gallery presents “In Imaginary Country“, a solo exhibition by Dima Filippov. The exhibition brings together new photographic and light objects, a graphic series, and video. It will be on view from 9 October to 15 November 2026.

The project’s central visual motif is the experience of splitting sunlight through optical instruments. By manipulating his gaze, doubling and tripling images, and superimposing horizon lines, the artist makes visible an “imaginary” country that exists alongside the legally recognised, delineated territory. The dissolution of boundaries and control, danger and the sense of home converge in lines of light captured through handmade, disposable lenses.

The exhibition’s concept unfolds as visitors move through the space. One of Filippov’s photographs, taken in 2009, serves as the starting point for a series of new photographic objects created as he developed the idea for the 2026 exhibition. “I was haunted by photographs taken with old Soviet cameras in places where I had never been before, on the outskirts of the city. Scattered remnants of rubbish, weeds, field roads, and low hills, along with the faint ruins of buildings, laid the foundations for an idea of coming into contact with the experience of life as it is: spread out, protecting its own peace in this land. The impression was powerful, and it has remained so,” Dima recalls. Wooden grid structures also appear on the walls of the ground-floor galleries, between the stripes, rows of repeated graphic images of dots — “suns” — are arranged.

The second floor inverts the composition of the first, moving the grid from the walls onto the floor. The rows of “suns” are brought together in a series of objects made from thin brass tubes. Filippov also uses this material to create his disposable pinhole lenses. The floor’s central work is a video piece composed of fragments — “experiments” in bringing the imaginary country into view. These fragments reveal an original performative practice, a way of reconstructing one’s perception of the surrounding space.

Anna Nova Gallery at the SKAN fair 2026!

We are taking part in the third edition of the fair and are delighted to present works by Dima Filippov from his solo project ‘Time of Land’, which was realised at the Anna Nova Gallery in 2024.

The title ‘Time of Land’ of Filippov’s series of graphic works refers to the central approach in the artist’s practice — his exploration of the theme of landscape, his use of fieldwork methods, and his interpretation of the rich theoretical legacy of land art.

Dima’s conceptual approach to creating his works centres on the earth itself as an image and a symbol capable of capturing the relationship between humankind and the landscape.

“Dima offers a new take on the history of de-terrioralization of art, land art. He incorporates his personal memories into the environment he reclaims and initiates dialogues both in time and space. The artist uses figurative means to modify conceptual practices and shifts focus towards tactile and sonorous features of a landscape. Moreover, he juxtaposes personal and universal matters in terms of location and age and enriches the contemporary Russian art with a whole set of new artistic relations and methods.”

The first joint exhibition by Maria Dmitrieva and Elena Nemkova — Peak of Uncertainty. The exhibition will feature works created specifically for this project, including sculpture, painting, installation, video art, and ceramic objects. Despite their differences in creative approach and visual language, the artists' works enter into a dialogue, forming a cohesive statement.

The focus of both artists' practices is on organic forms and the human body. Maria Dmitrieva creates biomorphic abstract paintings and graphics, as well as objects and video art. Drawing on autobiographical experiences, dream motifs, and the principle of spontaneity, she builds her own surreal world. Elena Nemkova expresses her interest in the intersection of the organic and the technological by combining materials such as minerals and metals, and blending natural, anthropomorphic, and industrial imagery. The resulting hybrids become the protagonists of imagined narratives in which scientific and irrational knowledge are inextricably intertwined.

For this exhibition, the artists have transformed the gallery into a metaphorical space beyond familiar physical coordinates — Peak of Uncertainty. Maria and Elena’s works shape this anomalous landscape, preserving traces of the many attempts to navigate it. The navigation system, abandoned by an unknown protagonist, must be deciphered by viewers. Through visual and conceptual dialogue, the artists' works form a unified environment that gradually guides visitors from the beginning to the end of the exhibition.

🤍 until September 27 at the Anna Nova Gallery

Kiaf SEOUL 2026 • Highlights

During the first week of September, we participated in two art fairs — Cosmoscow in Moscow and Kiaf, the largest international contemporary art fair, in Seoul.

At Kiaf SEOUL 2026, we presented a solo project by Ilya Fedotov-Fedorov. For both the artist and the gallery team, it was of paramount importance to present the booth as a cohesive artistic statement. And we succeeded! The booth turned out to be unique and conceptual, as the visual design and Ilya’s works themselves continued the theme of his solo exhibition “Second Skin” at the Anna Nova Gallery in the spring of 2026.

We are very pleased that Anna Nova’s debut at Kiaf made a significant impression: we were featured in the fair’s official press release and in an article by The Observer, and Korea.net published an extensive interview with the gallery’s founder, Anna Barinova: https://russian.korea.net/NewsFocus/HonoraryReporters/view?articleId=299838&pageIndex=1

A “report” from the fair also appeared on the blog 미미상인 (mimisangin), which is dedicated to art and exhibitions. The blog is run by Cho Sang-in, a culture section columnist for the *Seoul Economic Daily* [the segment about our booth begins at 29 minutes and 40 seconds]. Check it out if you’d like to immerse yourself in the fair’s atmosphere: https://youtu.be/iQQMjBP4Zzc

We’d like to thank the KIAF team, our collectors, and the participants of Art Weekend, which we organized in Seoul. And once again, congratulations to our artist on such a strong showing on the international art scene.

It was a wonderful experience. Here’s to even more in the future!

Kiaf SEOUL 2026

Cosmoscow 2026 • Highlights

From September 4 to 6, we took part in the 14th edition of the Cosmoscow International Contemporary Art Fair. This time, at the Anna Nova booth, we presented works by two artists — Anna Andzhievskaya and Piotr Diakov.

As always, it was intense. The fair moves fast — that's where its special energy comes from. Cosmoscow is, above all, about people and the lively exchange of ideas.

It is always important for us to welcome the collectors, colleagues, and friends we hold dear — and at the same time to meet new people, introduce them to the art of our artists, and tell them about the gallery. On behalf of the entire Anna Nova team, we thank everyone who stopped by our booth during the fair!

The Cosmoscow team prepared a rich public program featuring a wide variety of events. Natalia Zhiltsova, Head of Exhibition Projects at Anna Nova, took part as a speaker in one of them — the panel discussion "Into the Future Through Tradition: How and Why Contemporary Art Rethinks Cultural Heritage."

We are glad that the artists we work with were represented at Cosmoscow and at other booths as well:
→ A work by Uldus Bakhtiozina at the booth of the New Collectors Foundation, which featured selected works from the collection of Anastasia Krattli
→ Works by Dima Filippov in the project by Zoya Galeeva, winner of the Cosmoscow Foundation's "Collector of the Year" award — "At the Collector's Home"
→ Objects by Ustina Yakovleva at the Artwin Gallery booth
→ Works by Dmitry Kawarga at the Agency.Art.Ru Gallery booth

We thank our friends and partners, 3L Gallery, for providing the stunning "AVA" chairs by Brazilian designer Guto Indio da Costa for our booth. They integrated seamlessly into the display and, as good design should, enhanced it.

Thank you, Moscow!

Cosmoscow 2026

Anna Nova.

Artwin
