Five paths, five treasures. Five artists whose lives have crossed in Dumaguete. Brought together by terracotta, Mugna Gallery presents “Bahandi,” a curated exhibition by five ceramic artists: Dyn Quilnet, Hemrod Duran, Jana Jumalon, Jerry Catarata, and Mikoo Cataylo.

Bahandi opens on 23 May 2026, with the opening reception at 6PM.

“Like the wind, the Ata were nomadic peoples. Beneath the waves, the rockfish and water are inseparable. Terracotta of the earth, bound by the fire of a woman, as a woman. Looking back through his memories, Danni Sollesta unknowingly trained himself to be an alchemist (as the Renaissance man undertakes), taking the four elements and transforming them into gold: the kind of art that only he has been able to make.”

“As a young student of anthropology, he lived with the Ata for many years, and created bonds that last to this day. He had begun dabbling in photography, documenting those indigenous peoples, but he naturally grew to appreciate their vernacular houses that he made graphite drawings of them, and as he lived with them, portraits of the people.”
