GRAPHIC DIGEST — Leon Gallery sets a new record for the most expensive book sold in the Philippines, after a signed first edition of Jose Rizal’s “El Filibusterismo” went up for P21 million at The Asian Cultural Council Auction 2026 on Saturday, Feb. 14.

“The piece is signed and dedicated ‘A mi querido amigo el doctor T. H. Pardo de Tavera, Jose Rizal, Gante, 16/ISX 1891’ (To my dear friend, the doctor T. H. Pardo de Tavera, Jose Rizal, Ghent , 16 September 1891),” says the gallery in a Facebook post.
