is a non-stock, non-profit organization that established the first children’s interactive museum in the Philippines in 1993. The Museo Pambata is a children’s museum with various educational programs in support of children’s rights and a broad range of creative and educational services for children and adults involved in children’s welfare. It is an institutional member of the Philippine Board on Books for Young People and a member of the Zero In Consortium of Museums. In 2000, Museo Pambata received the Pearl Anniversary Reading Advocacy Award from the Reading Association of the Philippines for having “redefined the concept of a museum and for advocating literacy and children’s rights.” It was also named the Most Child-Friendly Foundation in 2010 by the National Council for Children’s Television.

“For inspiring the creation of new children’s museums in the Philippines and in Asia,” the Hands On! International Association of Children’s Museums and the European Museum Academy gave Museo Pambata the Children’s Museum Award Special Commendation in 2012 in Bologna, Italy. Museo Pambata was the only non-European museum shortlisted for the First Children’s Museum Award. Museo Pambata was also shortlisted at the 2016 Leading Cultural Destinations Awards (”the Oscars for museums”) as a Best Soft Power Cultural Organization. Since it opened in 1994, the Museo Pambata and its extension programs have welcomed 6 million visitors.

Throwback! 🤩

Earlier in January, we had the opportunity to meet Naomi Beckwith (Artistic Director) and Xiaoyu Weng, members of the all-women curatorial team of the 16th edition of documenta. Before the public opening of Dwellings by Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan, we connected through our Vice-President Dindin Araneta and shared ideas on the Manila art scene and futures.

Similar conversations continued throughout the year. Last July, we were delighted to welcome Professor Susanne Pfeffer, art historian, curator, and Director of the Museum MMK für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt, to the museum. She joined Dindin, MP Executive Director Randel Urbano, the Aquilizan family, and colleagues from the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD) on a discussion around Dwellings and other contemporary art at Museo, exploring how its playful and imaginative approach can invite more levity into the way museums do their work. 💫

It is our pleasure to introduce these curators to the work we do at Museo. These encounters expand conversations, spark possibilities, and strengthen connections across museums, cultures, and communities. We look forward to many more opportunities for collaboration in the service of Filipino children at . 💛

From our exhibition rooms to classrooms and communities beyond Manila! 💛

Today, Museo Pambata formally turned over components of our legacy exhibition, My Body Works! (Ang Katawan Ko!), to the City Government of Tanauan and the Department of Education–Tanauan City.

For years, My Body Works! invited children to get curious about their bodies through hands-on play and discovery. The learning experiences will continue in a new home, reaching children in Tanauan City’s day care centers and schools. 🧠🫀🫁

Through these exhibition components, children can explore how their bodies work, learn more about health and wellness, and ask the kinds of questions that turn everyday discoveries into learning.

We’re especially grateful to Gisella Collantes Garcia for helping bring Museo Pambata, the Tanauan City Government, and DepEd–Tanauan City together, and to Atty. Cristine Collantes Garcia, President of the Tanauan City Women’s Coordinating Councils, for supporting this initiative.

We believe learning should not stop at the museum doors. When educational spaces, communities, educators, and local leaders come together, we can bring more opportunities to play, discover, and learn closer to where children are.

From to Tanauan City, may My Body Works! spark many more curious minds and joyful discoveries. 💛

What would you build if you were the architect of the city?

Our young city makers got to explore that question during the first run of Dwellings City Makers Workshop!

Some built libraries, others made bridges, and one even imagined a grotto! Each creation showed us how differently kids see the spaces around them and what they think belongs in a city.

Missed the first run? Dwellings City Makers Workshop is back this October!
