Since its inauguration in May 2010, Altro Mondo has exhibited contemporary art from the Philippines and abroad. The gallery is also steadfast in its promotion of young, emerging Filipino artists along with the commercially and critically renowned. Quiet Collisions: Geometries of a Fractured Calm traces Peter Markus Jentes’ evolution from hard-edged precision to a more introspective abstraction. Grounded in geometry, design, and advertising, these works balance clean lines, measured grids, stains, drips, and layered materials, creating “quiet collisions” between rational structure and raw emotion. Influenced by Mark Rothko, Fernando Zóbel, Frank Stella, and Arturo Luz, Jentes employs subtle geometry and layered color to build spaces that reveal emotional complexity beneath their minimal surfaces. Central to the exhibition is the horizon line, a recurring motif that serves as both boundary and bridge between calm and turmoil, order and chaos. Shaped by a deeply personal period beginning in 2024, the works chart a passage from darker emotions toward balance, inviting viewers to reflect on how fracture and calm, control and surrender, can coexist within the same field of vision.

FAMILIA/R explores the shifting idea of family beyond blood and tradition, where belonging can also emerge through friendship, intimacy, and shared care. Drawing from visual languages of care and grief, the exhibition reflects on the body as a site of holding, protection, and vulnerability. Rather than a fixed ideal, family is seen as an evolving emotional space shaped by tenderness, absence, obligation, and choice—asking what it means to recognize “home” in another person.

Angela Silva explores identity, memory, time, and place through layered works across printmaking, collage, and image transfers, building an antiquarian sensibility through reassembled imagery and sequence-based artist books. Her cyanotype practice produces monochromatic blue images using a camera-less process predating film, existing between document and memory. For her, blue becomes both material and metaphor for distance, ocean, and longing.
