Today I explored some options for the roof. My first thought was stained glass. I had laminating film and I hoped I could use it to make glass by melting it onto the bars. So I tried it with this wooden ring first. I used my hot pen for the initial outlines. That worked, but the rest was still milky, so I used my hairdryer and now everything is clear and I have a round window 😁. Unfortunately, this process didn't work on the birdcage 🥺. I chose option number 2: wire and all kinds of beads. I am halfway through and I'm not sure if I like it 🤔. Should I continue or try another method for the stained glass idea? 🫣

I put up a wall today 😁. The birdcage is going to house the little fairy themed clock, so I needed a wall to hang it. I've used the cover of an old book and a piece of scrapbook paper. The cover does have a nice relief design, I just gave it a new layer of paint and covered the other side with this lovely paper. Decided to put the relief side facing backwards for two reasons. I thought this design wouldn't work with the clock and I like to add a nice touch to the back part if the project. I think it works, am I nuts🤔?

Made some doorknobs that even match the window design 😁🌸. Used flower beads, green sequins, tiny nails and some yellow diamond painting stones.

Unfortunately, flu season has started again 🤧🤒, so I didn't get much done today. I only installed the doors using a mortise and tenon joint (pin in hole). Then I noticed that I had miscalculated the stiles 🫣, resulting in two gaps at the top. I decided to fill them with a small piece of wood, which actually looks quite nice 😅. So let's just say it was all planned 🤫🤣🤣. Now letting it dry and hoping it will be strong enough, otherwise I might need to add some clamps on the inside. Anyway I'll figure it out.

I didn't have much time to post today😅. I was at a concert. The doors are drying and everything seems to be going according to plan 😁 (did I actually plan anything? 🤔😂). And if you're in the mood for funky, cheerful jazz, you should definitely give Something About Sanna a listen. It is a Dutch jazz trio joined by a big band. Besides being very skilled musicians, they also have a strong bond with each other and clearly enjoy working together, making every song a little party.

I'm working on some doors for the birdcage and they need stained glass windows. I had to figure out what pattern would work the best. Sketched 3, made 2 of them and now I need to decide which one to use. I'm leaning towards the one with the small flower. Here's what I've done so far.

Started transforming the birdcage😁.
Wanted to see if I could use the same technique I used for the outside of the wooden box, with some lace I took from an old t-shirt. So this time I made a floor.

Starting a new project in this decorative birdcage I bought about 6 years ago. Back then it was severely inspected by toddlers Vinnie🐈 and Lotje🐈‍⬛😻. Vinnie doesn't fit anymore 😹😹😹
