Herdenking 80 jaar Bevrijding 2025

Het Lochems Liberation Museum kan met trots terugkijken op een bijzonder geslaagd en indrukwekkend programma in 2025. Op 5 en 6 april werd de 80-jarige herdenking van de bevrijding voor het eerst georganiseerd in samenwerking met diverse stichtingen, verenigingen en vrijwilligers.
Er werd samengewerkt met het Historisch Genootschap, Stichting Stolpersteinen, Stichting De Synagoge, de LEO, de Gudulakerk, de VVV, de Lochemse Schouwburg en de crew van de film "Grenzenloos Verraad".
Wij mochten rekenen op waardevolle medewerking van de Pipes & Drums van de 48th Highlanders of Holland en de militaire voertuigen van de Achterhoek Groep. De inhoudelijke en muzikale omlijsting werd verzorgd door Elly Jansen (spreekster) en Rebecca en Isa Zwart.
Daarnaast was het een eer de families van onze bevrijders te mogen verwelkomen. Burgemeester Frans Backhuis was gedurende beide dagen aanwezig. Op uitnodiging was tevens kolonel Pierce Struckwick van de Britse Ambassade present.
Het Lochems Liberation Museum spreekt zijn grote dank uit aan alle betrokken organisaties, vrijwilligers en deelnemers voor hun inzet en betrokkenheid. Ook onze sponsors willen wij hartelijk bedanken voor hun onmisbare ondersteuning.
Kaarsjes op de begraafplaatsen
Jaarlijks worden op de begraafplaats van Barchem en Lochem kaarsjes ontstoken bij de graven van de gesneuvelde militairen die daar hun laatste rustplaats hebben gevonden. In totaal betreft dit vijfentwintig militairen. Met dit ingetogen en respectvolle gebaar wordt hun offer herdacht en wordt gewaarborgd dat zij, ook in de kersttijd, niet worden vergeten.
Deze plechtige herdenking vindt eveneens plaats op de begraafplaats in Lochem.
Het is voor ons een grote eer en verantwoordelijkheid om op deze wijze blijvende eerbied en dankbaarheid te betuigen.

Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Liberation
The Lochem Liberation Museum can proudly look back on a particularly successful and impressive program in 2025. On April 5th and 6th, the 80th anniversary of the liberation was organized for the first time in collaboration with various foundations, associations, and volunteers.
The Historical Society, the Stolpersteine Foundation, the Synagogue Foundation, the LEO, the Gudula Church, the Tourist Information Office, the Lochem Theatre, and the crew of the film "Borderless Betrayal" were among the participants.
We were able to count on the valuable cooperation of the Pipes & Drums of the 48th Highlanders of Holland and the military vehicles of the Achterhoek Group. The musical and content were provided by Elly Jansen (speaker) and Rebecca and Isa Zwart.
It was also an honor to welcome the families of our liberators. Mayor Frans Backhuis was present on both days. Colonel Pierce Struckwick of the British Embassy was also present by invitation.
The Lochem Liberation Museum expresses its deep gratitude to all the organizations, volunteers, and participants involved for their dedication and commitment. We would also like to sincerely thank our sponsors for their indispensable support.
Candles at the Cemeteries
Every year, candles are lit at the graves of the fallen soldiers who have found their final resting place at the Barchem and Lochem cemeteries. Twenty-five soldiers in total are buried there. This modest and respectful gesture commemorates their sacrifice and ensures that they are not forgotten, even during the Christmas season.
This solemn commemoration also takes place at the cemetery in Lochem.
It is a great honor and responsibility for us to express our lasting respect and gratitude in this way.
