On the second evening of ADE Arts & Culture, ROZENSTRAAT presents Sidario, a performance by Peruvian artist Wynnie Mynerva 🎆

Blood and a white shroud take centre stage in the work, which is inspired by the book Loco afán: Crónicas de sidario(1996) by Chilean writer and performer Pedro Lemebel. Known for his sharp critique of authoritarianism and humorous portrayals of Chilean popular culture from a q***r perspective, Lemebel portrays in Loco afán the lives of gay and trans people during the AIDS crisis, confronting themes of life, death and marginalisation.

Drawing on drag and club-kid aesthetics, as well as ritual elements from the Andes, Wynnie Mynerva reinterprets Lemebel’s work from a contemporary Peruvian and trans perspective. Blood, historically used to divide and stigmatise certain bodies, becomes part of a sacred pact of friendship and care.

Wynnie Mynerva (b. 1992, Lima) was a resident at the Rijksakademie and currently lives between Berlin and Barcelona. Their solo exhibitions include presentations at Fondazione Memmo (Rome) and the New Museum (New York). Their duo exhibition with with Eric Tlaseca, Entrañas, is currently on view at Museo Universitario del Chopo in Mexico City (curated by Miguel López).

We have a special performance weekend coming up, in collaboration with ADE Arts & Culture 🪩

From Thursday to Saturday, we open our doors to performances by Eloy Cruz del Prado, Wynnie Mynerva and Erik Tlaseca.

On the first night we present Working (Titulo) by Eloy Cruz del Prado. The performance points to a desire for intimacy that involves tenderness but goes beyond it. Drawing on James Baldwin’s Giovanni’s Room, where desire, shame, and precarious living conditions are inseparable, it looks at how the conditions in which we work and live shape the way we love.

Bio: Cruz del Prado (b. 1992, Madrid) graduated from the Dirty Art Department at the Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam. His work has been presented at Performissima (Paris), OperaEstate Festival (Bassano del Grappa), Centrale Fies (Dro), De Brakke Grond, ISO and Frascati Theatre (Amsterdam).

Vandaag is de laatste dag van Enter/Public/Space, de tentoonstelling gemaakt door Sanneke Huisman en Ben Belit Bitly, met werk van Noor Abed, Cyan Bae, Mona Hatoum, Jan Robert Leegte, Mapping Solidarity for Palestine, Esther P***k en Pegah Tabassinejad.

Vandaag zal kunstenaarsduo P***kVanBekkum de hele dag aanwezig voor de participatieve performance Guiding Voices (2022). Alle plekken voor de performance zijn inmiddels bezet, maar kom vooral langs om de tentoonstelling te bekijken nu het nog kan.

On October 8th at 19.00 Dana Linssen will be in conversation with Daniel Jacoby about his work and practice.

The talk will focus on 315 (2023) and Gallinazo (2026), the two videos presented in the exhibition. Connecting personal narratives with larger histories, the works move between memory, place, and time, reflecting on how the past is remembered, forgotten, and reinterpreted.

These themes will also serve as a starting point for a broader discussion of Jacoby’s artistic practice and the theoretical ideas that influence his research and work more generally.

Dana Linssen is a film critic (NRC/Filmkrant) and teaches film history, analysis and theory at ArtEZ (Academy of Theatre) in Arnhem and HKU in Utrecht.

🔄 Nu te zien in Enter/Public/Space: Wanderer (2025) van Jan Robert Leegte

Wanderer van Jan Robert Leegte is een autonome digitale flâneur: een op het internet gebaseerde entiteit die over de digitale kaart van onze fysieke wereld zwerft. Zonder menselijke tussenkomst maakt hij een eindeloze reeks
keuzes over zijn route en ontbeert elke fysieke verschijningsvorm.

De virtuele zwerver wordt op de blockchain vastgelegd en in beeld gebracht via online kaartdiensten. Geïnspireerd door de Situationistische praktijk van de dérive — het rondzwerven door stedelijke omgevingen — herinterpreteert dit werk de rondzwervende kunstenaar als een volhardende algoritmische actor. Voor deze tentoonstelling starte Wanderer op 3 september in de Rozenstraat.

➡️ Nu te zien in Enter/Public/Space: AmsterdamREALTIME (2002) een pionerende performance installatie van Esther P***k, Jeroen Kee en Waag Futurelab

Iedereen die zich door de stad verplaatst, tekent in zekere zin elke dag een klein deel van de stadsplattegrond, als een soort performatieve cartograaf. In AmsterdamREALTIME liet Esther P***k meer dan zestig Amsterdammers hun dagelijkse bewegingen in kaart brengen met behulp van vroege GPS systemen. Vijf jaar voor de eerste locatiebewuste smartphone werd gemaakt. Samen vormden hun tekeningen een herkenbare kaart van de stad: hoe lichter een plek, hoe vaker die bezocht werd.
