CCA,Lagos

CCA,Lagos Centre for Contemporary Art, Lagos The Centre for Contemporary Art, Lagos (CCA,Lagos) is an independent non-profit visual art organisation.

Established in December 2007, it provides a platform for the development, presentation, and discussion of contemporary visual art and culture. It seeks to create new audiences and to prioritise media such as photography, animation, film, video, and performance art--genres which have been under-represented in Nigeria. CCA,Lagos supports the intellectual and critical development of different art and

culture practitioners through talks, seminars, workshops and exhibitions. It also encourages and promotes the professionalisation of art production and curatorship in Nigeria and West Africa, collaborating with artists, curators, writers, theorists and national and international organisations. The most important starting point for setting up CCA, Lagos has been the need to provide access to critical material on art and culture. This resulted in setting up one of the fastest growing independent libraries in Africa, specializing in the visual arts and the creative sector in general. Since opening, the CCA Library has amassed a significant collection of materials on contemporary art, critical theory and curatorial practice with more than 3500 books, magazines, journals, videos and other ephemera. Today the library has developed into an important archive and educational resource for artists and students as well as local and international curators, researchers and other professionals in the cultural sector.

TGIF at CCA Lagos 🌙📚

Our Exhibitions and Technical Assistant, Moses Taiwo , seems to be enjoying Friday nights at the library a little too much 😭✨

At this point, we’re convinced the books, soft silence, and calm corners won’t let him go home… so we decided to let you join the vibe too.

Spend your evenings slowing down, reading, researching, or simply existing peacefully with us at CCA Lagos 🤍
