Working on this project together with and has been a deeply personal journey for us that began last summer. Kuldīga is a place we hold dear, a part of our team calls it home and spends their daily lives there. We spent time traveling through local communities and organizations, meeting all the incredible people of Kuldīga Municipality along the way. So this is our true perspective on a place we care about.

Thank you to everyone involved 🌞

Our dear friend and co-founder has held a solo exhibition “Chestnut and the Universe” at , and we were happy to help with the visual communication, as well as the overall concept alongside Toms Kampars.

The concept of the exhibition is rooted in the metaphor of a chestnut, where a spiky outer shell protects a sacred inner core. This is not a linear retrospective, but rather a philosophically structured journey through the artist’s inner evolution. The perimeter of the space features more commercial work, while at the very center sits “The 10 Commandments,” anchoring the exhibition in a quiet, spiritual core.

We are once again happy to continue to explore and reveal the creative work of Jette Užāne.

The design of book “The Living Mitten” indirectly integrates Jette’s joy of life, love for nature, as well as her inner strength and perseverance. It also serves as a logical continuation of the exhibition’s (Cēsis Museum, 2024) spatial experience, using similar graphic techniques to tell the story of Jette, such as typeface created on the basis of handwriting from her diary.

The mittens on the cover of the book were “drawn” using only light and shadow. As Jette said, “drawing with white on white,” showing that the material itself is a self-sufficient tool.

The book contains essays by curator Elīna Apsīte, photography, and entries from Jette’s own diary, revealing her worldview from multiple perspectives.
