8. septembra MASSive Jazz Jam būs veltīts vienam no nozīmīgākajiem mūsdienu džeza pianistiem un komponistiem — Chick Corea.

House band izpildīs Corea skaņdarbus no dažādiem viņa radošā ceļa posmiem kā arī mūziķu oriģināldarbus, kuros džeza tradīcija sastopas ar mūsdienīgu skanējumu, improvizāciju un enerģisku saspēli.

On September 8, MASSive Jazz Jam will be dedicated to one of the most important contemporary jazz pianists and composers — Chick Corea.

The house band will perform Corea's compositions from various stages of his creative path, as well as original works by the performing musicians, in which jazz tradition meets modern sound, improvisation and energetic interplay.

House band 08/09:

Andrey Polovko – saxophone
Andris Grunte – double bass
Reinis Zariņš – drums

The evening will start with a house band performance at 7:00 PM, followed by a jam session.

Admission for visitors – 15 EUR

Kvinteta programmas centrā ir trombona un tenora saksofona skanējums un to īpašā saspēle. Repertuārā skanēs skaņdarbi no hard bop laikmeta līdz mūsdienu džezam, apvienojot klasiskas kompozīcijas ar mūsdienīgāku repertuāru. Programmā iekļauti Stan Getz, J.J. On September 4th, the Andrejs Polovko Quintet will open the autumn concert season in hard bop style at MASA jazz club!

The quintet's program is centered on the sound of the trombone and tenor saxophone and their special interplay. The repertoire will include pieces from the hard bop era to modern jazz, combining classic compositions with a more modern repertoire. The program includes pieces by Stan Getz, J.J. Johnson, Bob Brookmeyer, Ike Quebec, Benny Golson, Joe Henderson, Kenny Barron, Arturo Sandoval and other jazz masters, as well as swinging rhythms, lyrical melodies and improvisation.

Understanding the resilient, soft yet indestructible nature of mould brings us one step closer to comprehending eternal existence.

Kvartets ir radoša sadarbība ar izciliem Latvijas mūziķiem. Šis instrumentālās mūzikas projekts apvieno latviešu tautasdziesmu senatnīgos motīvus, flautas dzidro skanējumu – gan akustisko, gan elektronisko – un pasaules ritmu daudzveidību. Rezultātā tapa mūzikas programma "Prāta projekcijas", kurā satiekas četru mūziķu individuālās mākslinieciskās pasaules.

On August 29, the quartet led by US-based flautist Ilona Kudiņa will perform at the jazz club MASA.

The quartet represents a creative collaboration with outstanding Latvian musicians. This instrumental music project blends the ancient motifs of Latvian folk songs, the clear sound of the flute — in both acoustic and electronic forms — and a diverse array of global rhythms. The result is the musical program Mind Projections, where the individual artistic worlds of the four musicians converge.

Iespējams, dzīvā mūzika ceturtdienās kļūs par jaunu tradīciju MASA džeza klubā, bet, kamēr nākotne vēl nav zināma, aicinām 27. augustā plkst. 20.00 uz džeza mūzikas vakaru kopā ar pianistu Bogdanu Mihailovu.

Bogdans ir jaunās paaudzes džeza pianists, kurš pēdējo divu gadu laikā strauji ienācis Latvijas džeza apritē. Absolvējis Rīgas Doma kora skolas džeza nodaļu, viņš šobrīd aktīvi koncertē gan Latvijā, gan ārvalstīs, sadarbojoties ar dažādu paaudžu un valstu džeza mūziķiem.
Šajā vakarā viņš izpildīs džeza, svinga un oriģinālkompozīcijas, kurās savīsies klasiskās mūzikas ietekmes un improvizācija.

Perhaps live music on Thursdays will become a new tradition at MASA Jazz Club. For now, while the future is still unknown, we invite you on August 27 at 20:00 for an evening of jazz with pianist Bogdans Mihailovs.

-Free admission.

Bogdans is a young-generation jazz pianist who has quickly become part of Latvia’s jazz scene over the past two years. A graduate of the jazz department of Riga Cathedral Choir School, he is now actively performing both in Latvia and abroad, collaborating with jazz musicians from different generations and countries.
This evening he will perform jazz and swing compositions alongside his original works, combining classical music influences with improvisation.
