SCEENERIE VILLAGE AT SPEKTRUM

On 19 September, Scenerie Village transforms Spektrum into a space where artists, creators and visitors come together through exhibitions, screenings, workshops, performances and encounters.

The Art Market brings together artists, creators and artisans from a wide range of creative practices. Among the participating artists and creators are Jo Malano, Kateryna Holedinets, Alessio Sciamanna, Sandie Nepper, Ahed Hajj, Morena Denigro, Noémie Bach and Stoked Toyz.

The programme also includes film screenings by Two Steps Twice, Adelino Alves, Kakumori and Loïc Della Schiava, a poetry reading by Malik Sidq, a family-friendly treasure hunt, and food & drinks throughout the day.

A few words from Menny Olinger, whose works are currently on view as part of Interactive Particles.

Menny Olinger’s sense of humor makes people laugh by pushing forms to the limits of 3D printing.

A self-taught artist working across ceramics, porcelain and screen printing for more than three decades, he combines traditional craftsmanship with digital modelling and contemporary technologies. His sculptures create a dialogue between manual gestures, material, memory and experimentation.

Balancing sensitivity with playful absurdity, Menny’s works invite visitors to reflect on our relationship to objects, time and the traces we leave behind.

Discover how the body can become a creative interface.

Join artist Tatiana Lopes for a hands-on workshop exploring the relationship between movement, touch and real-time digital imagery. Using TouchDesigner, a camera and Arduino, participants will experiment with how gestures, physical interaction and objects can generate, transform and control interactive visuals.

Through a VR headset, you’ll meet Oto, whose peaceful life on a tiny planet is suddenly disrupted by the arrival of an unexpected visitor. As the story unfolds, you’re not just watching—you become part of the experience, interacting with the world and its characters along the way.

Meet Matthew Almeida, Spektrum’s current artist in residence.

Originally from Rumelange and now based in Tokyo, Matthew returns to his hometown to develop a new project during his residency at Spektrum.

In this video, Matthew reflects on returning to his hometown and shares his first impressions as artist in residence at Spektrum.

During his residency, Matthew is exploring themes of personal identity and the immigrant experience in Luxembourg. Combining analogue sketching with AI, he is experimenting with new ways of making the creative process more accessible and encouraging new forms of self-expression.

FROM PET BOTTLE TO 3D CREATION

Two-day workshop with Charlotte Payet exploring PET plastic recycling. Participants will discover upcycling techniques, create recycled filament and print their own 3D object. A playful introduction to sustainability, recycling and digital fabrication for participants aged 10 and above.

A few words from Gwenael François about Oto’s Planet, the virtual reality experience currently on view at Spektrum as part of Interactive Particles.

Presented through VR headsets, Oto’s Planet invites visitors into an interactive story about Otto, whose peaceful world is disrupted when a spacecraft crashes onto his tiny planet. The arrival of Exo, a hyperactive cosmonaut, sets the stage for a playful and immersive tale about communication, coexistence and difference.

Throughout the 28-minute experience, visitors are not just observers but active participants. By interacting with the environment, rotating the planet and helping the characters along the way, they become part of the narrative itself.

Developed by Gwenael François and Skill Lab, Oto’s Planet combines immersive storytelling, interaction and virtual reality to create a poetic experience for audiences of all ages.

As François Schwamborn could not be present at the opening of Interactive Particles, he sent us this short introduction to his work on view at Spektrum.

For the installation, the Saarbrücken-based media artist created photogrammetry scans of trees. The resulting point clouds reveal a distinctly digital aesthetic, which he deliberately confronts with natural forms.

It is this tension between nature and technology, between organic structures and digital processes, that lies at the heart of the work.

The installation was developed during François Schwamborn’s residency at Spektrum and is currently on view as part of Interactive Particles.
