Today is International Dog Day, and we'd be remiss not to introduce Spritz, a much-loved presence at Goppion HQ in Milan. While the rest of the team focuses on conservation-grade display cases and exhibition fabrication, Spritz focuses on morale. He is very good at his job.

The Lokar Collection at the Sartorio Museum in Trieste brings together more than 550 pieces of 18th-century European porcelain from over 80 manufacturers, making it one of the most complete collections of its kind in the world. Goppion returned to this elegant neoclassical villa, having first worked here in 1998, to provide 14 display cases including two bespoke freestanding models, all with advanced airtightness.

The installation required particular ingenuity: fully assembled cases delivered to the second floor of a historic villa through a very small window.

At the in Paris, the Al Thani Collection's exhibition itinerary culminates in an 18-meter curvilinear display case that unwinds along the wall in a continuous double curve. The choice of a wraparound structure was deliberate: a unified form for a collection of remarkable variety, transforming diversity into a coherent and seamless narrative.

At the Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi's Saadiyat Cultural District, Foster + Partners' design language extends from the architecture into the exhibition spaces: fluid forms, continuous surfaces, and the disappearance of visible structure. Making that language work with a display case — where curved glass must also seal airtightly enough to maintain a stable conservation microclimate — is a different order of engineering challenge. Goppion, in collaboration with Empty engineered and installed 130 display cases and custom exhibition structures for the museum, each tailored to its contents and to the formal logic of the spaces around it.

With The Odyssey hitting theaters this week, Homer is on everyone's mind. This armor is older than the stories he told. The Dendra panoply, a full suit of Mycenaean bronze plate armor, dates to the 15th century BCE. It is the oldest complete body armor ever found. Its boar's tusk helmet matches descriptions in the Iliad, and recent research confirmed that it was built for battle, not ceremony.
Goppion engineered the anti-seismic display case that protects it at the Archaeological Museum of Nafplion, Greece.

Two years ago the Museo della Natura e dell'Uomo opened in Padua, the largest university science museum in Italy. Goppion designed and built all the display cases across 4,000 square meters of exhibition space. The largest are six-meter freestanding cases in irregular shapes, engineered and assembled around Pleistocene fossils that could not be moved into a standard vitrine. The cases had to be built around the specimens.

Two hundred and fifty years ago this week, the United States declared its independence. George Washington signed that document, led the army that won the war, and presided over the government that followed. , where he spent his final years, has marked the anniversary with a new exhibition tracing his full life, including the stories of the enslaved people who worked the land alongside him.
Goppion engineered and installed custom display cases for the exhibition, housing original objects from Washington's life including his sword, clothing, books, and personal documents.

Today, the David M. Rubenstein Treasures Gallery at the Library of Congress opens "The Declaration's Promise: A Revolutionary Idea," an exhibition of more than 120 items tracing the influence of the Declaration of Independence over 250 years. At its center is Thomas Jefferson's rarely displayed original draft, with edits in the hands of Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin.

The gallery structure was engineered, produced, and installed by Goppion in 2024, built specifically to accommodate rotating exhibitions of this kind. The same cases that opened with cuneiform tablets and a Voyager golden record now house the founding documents of American democracy.

Roman & Williams designed Marcel, the new restaurant at Sotheby's Breuer Building, around a simple premise: art and hospitality as a single experience. Guests descend beneath the building's Brutalist staircase into warm walnut paneling and candlelight, surrounded by works by Warhol, Calder, and Joan Mitchell on the walls, with Goppion cases throughout the space displaying art, jewelry, and design pieces available through Sotheby's.

The Crown Room at reopened last month, housing the Honours of Scotland in a new Goppion display case. The Crown of Scotland, Sceptre, and Sword of State with scabbard and belt form the oldest surviving set of crown jewels in the UK.
The one-off case was commissioned by and incorporates active climate control, certified airtightness, and a layered lighting scheme controlled remotely. Mirrors on the interior ceiling allow visitors to look up and see the jewels reflected from above. Exhibition design by Qualia Ltd.
