Caro Andrea, ovunque tu sia Buone Feste ❤️🎄😘
Architetto Andrea Canepele was an inspiration to me and to many. He tirelessly taught us the Italian 🇮🇹 language and culture and took us all over Italy to see exhibitions, churches, palaces and much more. I am very grateful to him. He taught me to love Italy, art and art history.
Paradise for Artists is dedicated to Andrea Canepele as well as my other art and art history Professors and teachers. Andrea was teaching art history at Charles Cecil Studios when I met him, and later on he opened his Mills Studio in Fiesole where we would go draw and paint from life with a model, for the most part with our favorite Greek pianist Antonia who would model for us. They were glorious times. We would go on trips together on the weekends.
Andrea was one of the most talented and generous people I have ever known. He wanted to show us the treasures of Italy and he wanted to see them too. Our outings were so meaningful and memorable, often we stayed in convents and Andrea always knew how to balance a visit. Food was important to him, so we always had great meals and tried new things. He was a sort of Encyclopaedia for history and dates and almost always had a red touring club book 📕 in his hand. He could get us into amazing places that were usually closed to the public. He also had very knowledgeable and kind friends, many architects as he, artists, journalists, antique dealers and often they would accompany us, so it was always very stimulating and lively! The favorite cities that we visited were Rome, Napoli, Genova, Bologna, Venezia, Ferrara to name a few. He was proud of his hometown of Florence and we visited regularly churches and museums for years. He is dearly missed.
This photo was in my featured photos today. We were at a party at his farm. I wrote a lot about him the other day as I am writing about people who have been dear to my heart, and Andrea is top on the list. He was very humble and old fashioned and had a great life and sense of humour. We were lucky 🍀 that he spent quite a bit of it with us. Grazie Andrea. ❤️
