Purple jade is a miracle of chemical processes deep in the earth over millions of years.

When light hits the stone, the manganese absorbs specific wavelengths, which reflects a soft purple, lilac, or violet hue back to your eyes.

A beautiful rendition of the Goddess of knowledge and learning, Saraswatiji with her Veena. This precious piece has been carved in Purple Jade by two generational artisans who are brothers.

The back facade carries beautiful floral etchings as well as a swan or hamsa motif known to be the vehicle of the goddess.

This work along with other treasured gemstone creations by artisans will be part of the Wedding Collective, a showcase of bespoke luxury, that Ma Passion will be participating in.

It is our committed association with Dinesh and other generational craft masters that is at the centre of this work.

LAXMJI IN YUKON JADE
 
An absolutely stunning carving of Goddess Laxmiji etched from Yukon Jade sourced from Canada.

The rich green itself lends a beautiful lushness to the piece – it also incorporates white specks typical of the stone known as snowflakes. Parts of the sculpture being thin allows light making it all the more radiant.
 
The artisan borrows from the south Indian sculptural vocabulary of the Goddess in this carving – her imposing pose and body language indicate power with grace.

If you look closely at the details – the lotus the deity sits on, and decorative motifs carved all around make it look multi -layered.

Yukon Jade is a variety of nephrite jade found in Canada’s Yukon Territory.

Known for its deep green shade and small mineral spots, this is an exceptionally tough mineral almost impossible to break.
 
It is formed deep underground during massive tectonic plate collisions. When calcium-rich fluids flow into crushed fault zones, they react with minerals under intense heat and pressure.

This process recrystallizes the minerals into tightly interwoven fibers, creating a stone so dense it is tougher than steel!
