⚡ Spark Theatre Demo at VITM, Bengaluru! ⚡

🔬 Exploring the Wonders of Electricity and Electromagnetism!

The Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum (VITM), Bengaluru, a unit of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, conducted an engaging Spark Theatre Demonstration at the Electrotechnic Gallery.

The demonstration brought the fascinating world of electricity and electromagnetism to life through exciting experiments featuring the Tesla Coil, Van de Graaff Generator, and Plasma Globe. ⚡

Through spectacular electrical discharges, electrostatic effects, and glowing plasma, visitors experienced scientific principles in action, making science learning interactive, engaging, and enjoyable.

At VITM, we continue to inspire curiosity and promote scientific temper through hands-on experiences and captivating demonstrations. 🌟

🚀🌕 World Space Week 2026 | Chandrayaan Mission Showcase at VITM, Bengaluru

As part of World Space Week 2026 – “Rocket Revolution”, the Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum (VITM), Bengaluru, organised a demonstration of a full-scale model of Chandrayaan-3 on 10 October 2026.

The programme highlighted the significance of World Space Week, celebrated annually from 4 to 10 October, commemorating the launch of Sputnik 1 in 1957 and the entry into force of the Outer Space Treaty in 1967. The celebration promotes awareness of space science and technology and inspires young minds to explore the wonders of the Universe. 🌌🔭

The programme also introduced visitors to India's remarkable lunar exploration journey:

🌕 Chandrayaan-1 (2008): India's first lunar mission, which mapped the Moon and provided important evidence of water molecules on its surface.

🌕 Chandrayaan-2 (2019): Carried an orbiter, lander and rover to study the Moon. Although the lander could not achieve a soft landing, the orbiter continues to contribute valuable scientific observations.

🌕 Chandrayaan-3 (2023): Successfully achieved a soft landing on the Moon on 23 August 2023, making India the first country to land near the lunar south polar region. The landing site was named Shiv Shakti Point.

The demonstration helped visitors understand India's achievements in space exploration and appreciate the role of science, technology and innovation in advancing lunar research.

🚀 World Space Week 2026 | Sunspot Observation at VITM, Bengaluru ☀️🔭

As part of World Space Week 2026 – “Rocket Revolution”, the Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum (VITM), Bengaluru, organised a Sunspot Observation through a Telescope on 8 October 2026, offering museum visitors an opportunity to explore the Sun and learn about solar activity through direct observation.

The programme encouraged scientific curiosity and promoted awareness of astronomy and space science among visitors.

🚀 World Space Week 2026

The Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum (VITM), Bengaluru, a unit of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, continued its World Space Week 2026 celebrations with an engaging Open House Quiz on Space & Astronomy on 6 October 2026.

🛰️ How did visitors participate?
Visitors at the museum simply scanned the QR code displayed at the venue, joined the online quiz using their mobile phones, and answered the questions on Space & Astronomy.
The activity provided museum visitors with an exciting opportunity to test their knowledge, learn interesting facts and engage with space science in a fun and interactive digital format. 🌍🔭✨

The Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum (VITM), Bengaluru, a unit of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, continued its World Space Week 2026 celebrations with an engaging programme on 5 October 2026.
🔭 Demonstration & Activities on “Space Science” were conducted in the Space Gallery at VITM, offering young learners an opportunity to explore fascinating concepts related to space, astronomy and space technology through interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities.

World Space Week 2026

The Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum (VITM), Bengaluru, a unit of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, marked the beginning of World Space Week 2026 with an exciting Water Rocket Launching Demonstration on 4 October 2026.
🌍 Under the theme “Rocket Revolution”, young visitors explored the basic principles of rocket propulsion and experienced the thrill of launching a water rocket. The interactive demonstration sparked curiosity and encouraged students to discover the science behind space exploration and rocketry.

The programme provided an engaging hands-on experience, inspiring young minds to look beyond Earth and dream of reaching the stars! 🌌🚀

🔷 Origami Polyhedra: Hands-on Maths Session! 📐✨

This Sunday, we will be having a Origami Polyhedra session with Disha Kuzhively, an educator who designs, and facilitates mathematics and science outreach programmes at International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS).
In this session, we will learn to construct two classic modular origami units - PhiZZ and Sonobe - and use them to assemble a variety of fascinating polyhedra. Along the way, we will explore the relationship between faces, edges, and vertices, and use our models to investigate Euler’s characteristic.
