IME, India’s first experiential music museum is dedicated to exploring India’s cultural nuances, through its music. This unique museum intends to encourage a rediscovery of various genres of Indian music, from the traditional to the contemporary, to ultimately create an emotional connection with music. Through interactive multimedia galleries, performance venues and learning spaces, IME is envisaged as a space to engage young people, tourists, and families alike in an entertaining yet enriching experience.

Spend an evening with khayal, one of the principal forms of Hindustani classical vocal music.

In this intimate baithak, vocalist A. Mandakini will present a selection of khayal compositions, exploring raga through melody, improvisation and interpretation. She will be accompanied by Kaustuv Swain on tabla, whose rhythmic vocabulary will also take centre stage in a tabla solo during the evening.

What happens when music meets comics and storytelling? A day of fun for the whole family! 🎶📚

Join us at the Indian Music Experience Museum as Amar Chitra Katha brings its latest Visionaries Series, *Musicians of India: Ragas and Rhythms*, to IME.

The day includes comic-making and storytelling workshops for different age groups, a family-friendly museum walkthrough and a quiz that puts your knowledge of music and comics to the test. You could even take home copies of *Musicians of India* along with IME and Amar Chitra Katha goodies!

Today marks the 100th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, one of India’s most enduring musical voices.

Born in Assam in 1926, Dr. Hazarika’s music carried the sounds and stories of Assam and the Northeast to audiences across India and the world. Rooted in the folk traditions of his homeland, his songs spoke of humanity, equality, social justice and cultural identity.

This centenary is also a significant moment for the Indian Music Experience Museum. We are honoured to receive a harmonium that belonged to Dr. Hazarika, generously donated by his family through the Bhupen Hazarika Cultural Trust.

An instrument carries more than its sound. It carries traces of the person who played it, the music that came through it and the stories around it. By preserving this harmonium alongside other memorabilia, IME hopes to keep a part of Dr. Hazarika’s musical journey accessible to generations to come.

Join us as we mark his centenary with a musical tribute by the Assam Society of Bangalore, a formal handover ceremony and an evening reflecting on the remarkable legacy he left behind.

Hidden in IME’s Sound Garden are the Singing Stones, natural stones that come alive with sound when played with wet hands. It takes a little patience and practice to find their voice, but once you do, the results are unlike anything you’ve heard before.

And if you’d like to hear them at their very best, Sajan, IME’s Sound Garden expert, is always happy to show you how.
