The Albanian Institute and the The Metropolitan Opera are delighted to invite our community to celebrate soprano Ermonela Jaho's return to the Met in La Traviata.

We are proud to welcome back the incomparable Ermonela in her signature role of Violetta Valéry. Renowned for deeply expressive, sensitive portrayals that draw you right into the heart of Verdi’s La Traviata, her emotional intensity is something that truly must be seen to be believed.

Performance Dates: May 6, May 9, May 13, and May 16 (Matinee).

As a community member of the Albanian Institute, enjoy 15% off your tickets by using promo code JAHO15 at checkout.

Arbëreshë Dancing la Vallja, on Tuesday of Easter in Frascineto, Calabria, Italy. ♥️

Every Tuesday after Easter in Frascineto, la Vallja takes place.

La Vallja is a kind of “ridda” (an old dance where people dance in a circle by holding hands with each other), women wear the traditional costume (usually with 2 skirts, one fuchsia and over it one blue), and next them there are the gentlemen (“caporali”), 2 up to 4 per side.

La Vallja moves in a semicircle, all the dancers are held together with a white handkerchief in their hands (the sweat of their bare hands could soil their clothes) and dance along the main street of the hamlet, singing ancient rhapsodies that praise Giorgio Castriota Skanderbeg, the National Albanian Hero. But others are songs of love and history-legend, such as the heartbreaking one dedicated to Constantine and his sister Durentina.

Join us tomorrow, Nov 17 at 6pm to honor and celebrate culture and heritage 🇦🇱

Walking home 🤍
The stunning architecture of Berat — from another angle!

A living museum settled amongst the uneven surfaces of the rocky top.

Once you have passed through the arch of the citadel, you suddenly and naturally have lost five hundred years of history, and stroll in the middle of the 15th century, a styled 15th century, a little monkish, turned into quintessence...

Seen from a distance, Berat looks like a cardboard city, such as would have been built by someone like Walt Disney who would have substituted geometry with poetry.

The houses, all white in color with green shutters, are on top of one another, racing to be first to reach the top of the dry rock, which the strong Osum current has split in two.
