Curator's Pick Award - fitosart "Frida KahLó" (70 x 50 cm, Akril vásznon, Magyarország, 2026)

We are delighted to congratulate the talented artist fitosart on receiving the prestigious Curator’s Pick Award in the physical category for the remarkable artwork Frida KahLó 🎉

Inspired by the spirit of Frida Kahlo, this painting presents far more than a portrait — it is an emotional interpretation of identity, resilience, femininity, and imagination. By transforming Frida into a majestic horse figure, the artist creates a symbolic connection between inner strength and vulnerability. The horse’s calm yet penetrating expression invites the viewer into a deeply personal and dreamlike world.

The intense red-orange background radiates passion and emotional energy, while the floral crown and richly layered jewelry echo Frida Kahlo’s iconic visual language. Surrounding parrots and lush botanical elements introduce themes of freedom, vitality, and creativity, giving the composition an almost magical atmosphere. Every brushstroke contributes to a vibrant visual narrative where surrealism and emotion coexist beautifully.

What makes this work especially captivating is the artist’s unique approach: reimagining legendary figures from art history as playful, surreal, and color-saturated characters. This reinterpretation feels both respectful and refreshingly contemporary, allowing viewers to reconnect with a familiar icon through a completely original artistic vision.

Frida KahLó is a celebration of individuality, courage, and artistic transformation — a work that captures attention instantly and continues to reveal new emotional layers over time.

Congratulations once again to fitosart on this well-earned recognition and on creating a truly unforgettable piece of art. 👏🎨🌺🐎

Curator's Pick Award - Finky Furkle "Gattah" (3000x3000 pixels 300dpi, digital painting, Serbia, 2026).

Dear Friends,

We are proud to congratulate Roma Ivanov (Finky Furkle) on winning the Curator’s Pick Award in the Digital Format category for his exceptional artwork Gattah.

Born from a fusion of classical inspiration and contemporary urban expression, Gattah reimagines Erasmo da Narni through a distinctly modern visual language. Inspired by the iconic sculptural representation created by Donatello, the artwork moves beyond historical portraiture and transforms the figure into a symbol of enduring power, identity, and cultural reinvention.

At first glance, the viewer encounters the familiar authority of a marble bust, but the composition quickly breaks away from tradition. Graffiti-like gestures, raw sketch lines, bold typography, glowing geometric overlays, and saturated color contrasts introduce the energy of the street into the rigidity of classical form. The result is a visual collision between Renaissance heritage and modern urban culture.

The painting speaks about how history survives through reinterpretation. Instead of preserving the past as something distant and untouchable, the artist pulls it into the present moment — alive, imperfect, expressive, and emotionally charged. The distorted textures and layered interventions reflect the rhythm of contemporary city life, while the sculptural figure remains grounded in timeless human presence.

As a Belgrade-based digital artist, muralist, and motion designer, Roma Ivanov continues to develop a distinctive artistic voice shaped by graffiti aesthetics, observations of people, and the pulse of urban environments. Gattah is a strong example of how digital art can preserve historical references while simultaneously challenging visual conventions.

This recognition celebrates not only technical excellence, but also originality, cultural dialogue, and fearless artistic experimentation.

Congratulations once again to Finky Furkle on this outstanding achievement and well-deserved award. 🎉👏

Curator's Pick Award - Sveta Kletina & Evgeni Gertsenstein , Artist: Evgeni Gertsenstein, DRAINED (22 x 41 x 52, Treated paper-mâché, metal, Serbia, 2025).

Dear Friends,

We are honored to congratulate Sveta Kletina and Evgeni Gertsenstein on receiving the prestigious Curator’s Pick Award for their profoundly moving sculptural work, Drained (2025).

The sculpture revisits the historical tradition of Memento Mori — artworks that once reminded viewers of the fragility and inevitability of life. Yet instead of focusing on physical death, Kletina and Gertsenstein shift the conversation toward a distinctly modern reality: the emotional, psychological, and spiritual exhaustion experienced in today’s world.

At first glance, the work appears fragile and ghostlike. A hollow human form hangs suspended on a metal structure, resembling both a garment and an emptied body. The figure feels weightless, almost absent, as though identity itself has slowly dissolved under invisible pressures. The stark white surface evokes silence, vulnerability, and emotional numbness, while the exposed crimson interior introduces a deeply visceral contrast — suggesting emotional bleeding, drained vitality, suppressed pain, or the slow erosion of the self.

The sculpture leaves space for deeply personal interpretation. Some viewers may recognize the experience of professional burnout — the sensation of giving endlessly until nothing remains. Others may see loneliness, emotional sacrifice, or the hidden psychological wounds carried beneath calm and functional appearances. The suspended form can also be interpreted as a symbol of modern humanity itself: physically present, yet emotionally emptied by the relentless demands of productivity, responsibility, and survival.

What makes Drained especially compelling is the way it transforms an invisible emotional state into a physical object. The artists materialize something many people struggle to articulate — the quiet depletion of energy, passion, and identity that often accompanies modern life. In doing so, the work becomes not only a sculpture, but also a mirror. It invites viewers to confront questions about balance, emotional resilience, vulnerability, and the cost of constantly enduring.

With Drained, Kletina and Gertsenstein have created a work that resonates far beyond its physical dimensions. It speaks to a global audience living through an era of emotional overload, constant pressure, and invisible fatigue. At the same time, it reminds us of the enduring role of art: to make inner experiences visible, to provoke reflection, and to create moments of human recognition and empathy.

Congratulations once again to the artists on this well-deserved Curator’s Pick Award and on creating a work that so powerfully captures the emotional realities of our time.

Curator's Pick Award - Elena Galika "Other opinion" (145x97 cm, Oil on canvas, Macedonia, 2025)

Dear Friends,

We are proud to congratulate Elena Galika on winning the prestigious Curator’s Pick Award in the Digital Format for her remarkable artwork “Other Opinion”.

This extraordinary surrealist composition invites viewers into a deeply symbolic and psychological space where identity, freedom, vulnerability, and external judgment coexist. Through her distinctive visual language, Elena Galika creates a dreamlike world that merges contemporary emotion with references to art history, resulting in a painting that feels both timeless and intensely personal.

At first glance, the viewer is drawn to the calm yet powerful female figure standing at the center of the composition. Her body language suggests vulnerability, but also confidence and self-awareness. Around her unfolds a fragmented reality filled with visual quotations and symbolic imagery — echoes of iconic artworks, surreal figures, distorted perspectives, and open spaces that blur the boundaries between memory, imagination, and subconscious thought.

The painting explores a universal human experience: the constant presence of outside opinions, criticism, expectations, and judgment. Yet despite these surrounding voices, the central figure remains emotionally grounded, representing the idea that true inner freedom cannot be controlled by external perception. The work becomes a poetic reminder that individuality and authenticity are acts of courage in a world that often pressures people to conform.

Many viewers may interpret the painting in different ways. Some may see it as a reflection on self-image and personal identity in modern society. Others may connect with the emotional tension between vulnerability and independence, or recognize the symbolic struggle between external influence and inner peace. The surreal elements create space for personal interpretation, allowing each observer to enter the work through their own emotions and experiences.

What makes Elena Galika’s artistic expression especially compelling is her ability to weave together inspiration from classical masterpieces with her own contemporary vision. Her surrealist approach transforms familiar references into new emotional narratives, connecting past and present, reality and dreams, intellect and intuition.

Congratulations once again to Elena Galika on this well-deserved award and on creating a work that resonates so powerfully with audiences. “Other Opinion” stands as a celebration of individuality, creative freedom, and the quiet strength of remaining true to oneself despite the noise of the outside world. ✨

Curator's Pick - Vasyl Netsko - Kiss (2022)

Dear friends,

Today we are pleased to present an award-winning artist of the Inspired by Classics exhibition at Golden Duck Gallery — Vasyl Netsko. Congratulations on receiving the Curator’s Pick Award for your extraordinary artwork Kiss.

This recognition feels deeply deserved, not only because of the technical mastery within the painting, but because of the emotional language it speaks so powerfully to every viewer. Your work carries the rare ability to unite tenderness, symbolism, and spiritual depth into one harmonious visual experience.
In Kiss, there is more than the depiction of two people embracing — there is a celebration of intimacy as something timeless, sacred, and transformative.

The painting radiates warmth and silence at the same time, inviting the audience into a moment that feels both personal and universal. The composition immediately recalls the legacy of the great masters while unmistakably carrying your own artistic voice. The elongated forms, ornamental textures, and golden atmosphere evoke a dialogue with history, yet the painting breathes with contemporary sensitivity and individuality.

The floral elements woven into the hair suggest growth, rebirth, and emotional flourishing, while the intricate patterns covering the garments resemble the invisible threads that connect human souls. What is especially striking is the contrast between structure and emotion. Parts of the painting appear geometric and almost architectural, while the faces remain soft, dreamlike, and vulnerable. This duality can be understood as a reflection of human existence itself — strength and fragility, body and spirit, discipline and passion.

Knowing your background as both an accomplished artist and athlete, one can feel this philosophy deeply embedded in the work. The painting becomes not only an image of love, but also a meditation on balance and harmony. To the audience, Kiss speaks about closeness in a world that often feels distant. It reminds us that affection is not weakness but power; that tenderness can survive chaos, history, displacement, and time.

The closed eyes of the figures create a sense of inner peace, as though the outside world disappears for a single eternal moment. The viewer becomes witness to a quiet sanctuary of trust, devotion, and emotional unity. There is also something profoundly hopeful in this painting. The rich colors and organic motifs suggest that love continues to bloom even after hardship. The work feels like a poetic answer to modern uncertainty — a reminder that beauty and humanity endure.

May this award become another important milestone in your remarkable career and inspire even greater artistic achievements ahead.

The Inspired by Classics exhibition at Golden Duck Gallery is open until May 29.
