Roger Dean – The Guardians

Now available from Trading Boundaries Fine Art, The Guardians is a striking open edition print produced in 2018, based on Roger Dean’s original 1991 artwork.

The image was inspired by the dramatic rock formations and landscapes of Utah and Arizona, with their towering forms, rich colours and extraordinary sense of scale. As with so much of Roger’s work, the natural landscape is reimagined and heightened, creating something that feels both familiar and otherworldly.

The original Guardians artwork dates from 1991 and was also associated with Yes’s album Union, continuing Roger Dean’s long and iconic creative relationship with the band.

NEW: Roger Dean Voyage Box Set now available at Trading Boundaries

Originally launched aboard the Trading Boundaries Voyages 2026 Rhine cruises, Roger Dean’s beautiful Voyage Box Set is now available to purchase from the Trading Boundaries gallery.

This special collector’s edition brings together five miniature reproductions from Roger’s Voyage series, presented in a signed presentation box and created to celebrate our inaugural Voyages cruises.

The first image is the Night Study. "The temple towers rise into a sky of stars, while a warm golden glow comes from within the island, moving through the trees and reflecting down onto the still water." Roger Dean.

A wonderful piece for Roger Dean collectors, art lovers and anyone who joined us on the Rhine this summer.

Voyage

We have a new box set of mini prints that is being released to coincide with the Voyage, the first of which sets off from Basel on 11th July.

I will be on board as we travel down the Rhine River to Amsterdam, showcasing a collection of paintings, fine art prints and drawings, including rare pieces never seen before in public, and hosting a live painting session along the way.

Joining me on this leg will be Rick Wakeman, Eddie Jobson, Martin Barre of Jethro Tull, Adam Wakeman with Damian Wilson on vocals, Sir Thijs van Leer and Menno Gootjes of Focus, and Pye Hastings, Geoffrey Richardson and Mark Walker of Caravan, with concerts each evening and informal after-Hours sessions into the night.

Roger Dean's iconic Myths and Legends artwork is now available as an open edition print.

Originally created for Rick Wakeman's celebrated re-mastered 1975 concept album The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, this magnificent painting has become one of Roger Dean's most recognisable and enduring works.

Combining epic landscapes, fantastical architecture and a sense of timeless mystery, Myths and Legends perfectly captures the spirit of Arthurian mythology and the grandeur of Rick Wakeman's music. More than fifty years after its creation, the artwork continues to inspire collectors, music fans and lovers of fantasy art around the world.

The partnership between Roger Dean and Rick Wakeman helped define an era of progressive rock, where music and visual art came together to create entire worlds for audiences to explore. Myths and Legends remains one of the finest examples of that creative vision.

Now available as a signed open edition print from the Roger Dean Gallery at Trading Boundaries, this stunning artwork offers an opportunity to own a piece of progressive rock history.

Available now from the UK home of Roger Dean's art.

We are delighted to introduce a new open edition print of Roger Dean’s Freyja’s Castle — a deeply personal and historically significant work painted on 16th September 1987.

The painting takes its name from Roger’s daughter Freyja, who was born on the very same day. Reflecting on the artwork, Roger recalls:
“I was waiting to be called to the hospital as I finished it.”

Originally created for Henk Rogers — the visionary game publisher later known worldwide for securing the rights to Tetris — the artwork was used for the game Super Black Onyx. Decades later, Henk Rogers’ remarkable story reached a new audience through the recent film Tetris, starring Taron Egerton.

With its dreamlike blue architecture, dramatic landscape and unmistakable atmosphere, Freyja’s Castle captures Roger Dean’s ability to blend fantasy, storytelling and emotion into a single image.
This new open edition print is produced on beautiful 155 lb (330 gsm) Somerset Velvet paper, with a paper size of 23.4” x 16.5” (A2) and an approximate image size of 21” x 14”.
Available now from the Roger Dean Gallery at Trading Boundaries — the UK home of Roger Dean’s art.

We are proud to present Roger Dean’s iconic Asia Dragon — one of the most recognisable images in progressive rock history.

Originally created for ASIA’s groundbreaking debut album in the early 1980s, the dragon became an enduring symbol of the band and remains closely associated with their visual identity to this day. Roger Dean not only designed the legendary album cover artwork, but also created multiple variations of the ASIA logo and imagery across several of the band’s releases throughout their career. Roger continues to work closely with ASIA on new creative projects today, continuing a collaboration that has now spanned decades.

Combining power, elegance and fantasy, the Asia Dragon stands as one of Roger Dean’s most celebrated creations, bridging the worlds of music and fine art in a way few artists ever have.

This stunning artwork is now available from the Roger Dean Gallery at Trading Boundaries as a signed open edition print, offering collectors and fans the opportunity to own one of the defining images of classic progressive rock.

We are pleased to present Premonitions — a remarkable Roger Dean image created from two separate works of art, brought together to form the cover artwork for Steve Hackett’s box set Premonitions: The Charisma Recordings 1975–1983.

The landscape itself originates from Roger Dean’s monumental 6ft x 4ft original canvas titled Oak in Spring, a vast and atmospheric composition that captures the dreamlike natural worlds for which Dean is renowned. Combined with this is Cicada — the striking craft and solitary figure that appear within the foreground of the piece.

While Premonitions is now available as an open edition print, Cicada is also available separately as a signed limited edition print in its own right, allowing collectors to appreciate the detail and design of the iconic craft independently from the larger composition.
Together, these works perfectly demonstrate Roger Dean’s unique ability to merge landscape, imagination and narrative into a single visual universe — imagery that continues to resonate across both the art and music worlds.
Available from the Roger Dean Gallery at Trading Boundaries, the UK home of Roger Dean’s art.
