Hello all home-eds, afternoon clubs and further ed interested people. Where to learn about the Art of Sound & Video ?

There's a great variety of resources readily available – one can watch YouTube-clips until ... errr dozing off, or keep searching for quality material. One can find great quality, even freebies from the Higher Education sector like M.Stiller's "Sound Design for Filmmakers" is in reach. [find 10-day link to FREE copy in comment below] (or as posted before comic books on the history of Music Tech).

Though Stiller's statements in his book might be a little disheartening ("There are a couple of schools but they are expensive and I do not endorse them. These schools do not effectively prepare students for what to do when the course is over.") he delivers for a practical approach and application. I know of the difficulties of teaching in HE and also of the importance of practical work.

My experience has led me to encourage kids and teenagers to come out of their bedrooms, leave their playstations and start working practically at SAViA. Over the passed 2 years we have created some truly extra-ordinary works in sound, art and video, and we keep supporting local schools realizing young creatives' potential.

Right now I am preparing various intense short courses / workshops, that we want to launch for the Summer - covering outdoor activities in subjects like film making and sound recording, but we will also offer some of our popular studio workshops again (eg. animation and sound effects) . If you want to get involved and be one of the first to enrol for one of the very small teams, perhaps secure a bursary, please send an email to:

Registration for afterschool activities of the Spring term is now closed. Thank you for registering your interest.

We will commence the SAViA home-ed group for the spring term on 20th February and still have capacity Mondays and Thursdays.
Until then have a great half-term everyone.

+++ Spring term – Registration deadline approaching: 8-Feb-2018 +++ please register your (child's) attendance in time, we will not be able to accommodate people joining mid-term if you are not registered. Please request SAViA info-pack NOW to register in time and secure a place at our home-ed group on Monday or the afterschool sessions. Taster sessions are only offered for days before the deadline.

Kid 1: " ... and now they are telling everyone plastic was bad. And: Don't buy it."

SAViA – catering for the home-ed community and after-school clubs – is open Mondays with sessions for home-ed (age 10+) and afterschool activities (6+). For our sessions at Peredur - Centre for the Arts please book in advance.

drop-in and taster sessions by prior arrangement = £25
half term 8.January - 9.February = £125 (5 weeks)
