Towcester Museum Trust is a registered charity (Charity number 1120909) founded in 2003 and dedicated to providing a quality museum and visitor centre for Towcester. Located in the courtyard of a former Georgian coaching inn in the heart of historic Towcester, the museum provides a centre for tourism and historical information for the district and a much needed focal point for the exhibition, display and interpretation of the history of the Towcester district.

We have a replica showing how the Mount may have looked when it was built, giving you a glimpse into Towcester’s past and the people who shaped our town.

Step back in time at Towcester Museum and take a seat in our Georgian parlour! 🕯️

Have a go at some traditional parlour games, explore how people spent their leisure time, and discover a little more about life in the Georgian era.

We’re putting the welfare of our wonderful volunteers first and hope you understand our decision.

We’ll be back open as usual on Friday and look forward to welcoming you then! 💜

Due to the ongoing heatwave, Towcester Museum will be closed until Tuesday 30th June. The wellbeing of our wonderful volunteers remains our top priority during this period of exceptionally hot weather.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. We look forward to welcoming you back next week to explore Towcester’s fascinating history with us.

🌞 Due to the current heatwave, Towcester Museum will be closing at lunchtime on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week to help keep our volunteers and visitors comfortable and safe.

We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. We look forward to welcoming you during our morning opening hours and again as normal once temperatures have cooled.
