✨ We’re open! The Arches Studios are welcoming visitors today and tomorrow as part of Hampshire Open Studios!

Come and explore the studios, meet the artists and discover new work.

The Arches is home to artists at all stages of their careers, working across a wide range of mediums; from 3D printing and concrete sculptures to abstract painting and textiles.

Led by Carabiner Club Southampton () and THEIR Initiative (), this project will explore Southampton’s trans+ and q***r histories through workshops, oral histories and community archiving, culminating in monthly workshops and an exhibition at God’s House Tower.

Led by Ri Baroche & Beyond Reflections (), Transcribe will commission eight writers and a trans+ artist to create new work exploring the theme “Everybody Transitions”, with the aim of increasing empathy and challenging misconceptions about trans+ experiences.

Led by Jez Franck (), the Oracle of Gender Designation is an interactive installation that playfully explores the complexity, joy and absurdity of gender through games, ritual, performance and participation. The project will focus on accessibility and invite local LGBTQIA+ communities to help shape and create the work.

🚨 OPEN CALL

‘a space’ arts are looking for participants to take part in Invasive/Native, a free creative workshop led by artist april forrest lin 林森 at God’s House Tower. Using Japanese knotweed as a starting point, this hands-on workshop explores ecology, adaptation, migration and belonging through creative making and conversation.

Participants will discover the fascinating biology of Japanese knotweed, how it spreads through underground rhizomes, how it arrived in the UK, and why it has become one of Britain’s most talked-about plants.

The workshop will culminate in the creation of a collaborative artwork, which will be exhibited at God’s House Tower during the British Science Festival.

Who is this opportunity for? This opportunity is only open to people from global majority communities. No previous experience in art or science is needed.
