Keep your ear to the ground with KR models! Were hearing whispers of news on the horizons. Make sure you have registered your interests for either the hunslets , torpedos , or both!

They will compliment any steelworks especially from the era of 60s/70s onwards.

Let's hope we see some colour soon ;)

Just like the busses, nothing for weeks then 3 at once. Here are the first CAD's of the Hunslet BO-BO. Register your interest. There will be tooling differences between the 3 versions of the model.

Today we remember those we lost. All those years ago. And we learn from the lessons of the past. Safety is our No1 priority.

"At a time when we remember those that died defending this country, let’s not forget those that died building it. 43 years ago on the 4th of November 1975, 11 of our own went to work on Queen Victoria blast furnace & didn’t return home." (Simon O'Sullivan - Scunthorpe memories 2018)

"The blackest day in the history of the Scunthorpe steel industry comes on November 4 when an explosion centred on a molten iron-carrying torpedo ladle claims 11 lives, in what becomes known as the Queen Victoria Blast Furnace Disaster." (Scunthorpe telegraph)

The plaque below can currently be seen in the steelworks section of the North Lincolnshire Museum.

Firstly you may notice we have changed the pages name to reflect the location and our tours within it. The society itself has not changed name.

And then , Thankyou all so much for all the help and support today.

We hope that both nationally , but most importantly locally, that we can connect with all to bring the history of the steelworks to life with our guided railtours around the site.

We can only do this with you help. We also hope that with the North Lincolnshire Heritage network and other North Lincolnshire heritage sites, we can bring heritage and history a notable point in the area.

So please keep sharing our posts and pictures and your experiences with your friends. And please keep comming to visit us.

Thanks to Lydia of Isle of Axholme and Hatfield Chase Landscape Partnership

A brilliant visit by Rail Riders Club and we were very proud to host their first ever event !

We managed to cover a huge area with 3 different forms of motive power for the first time in one day. As well as having brilliant weather and seeing a large amount of molten iron movements and other rail movements including the highline !

A huge Thank you to Simon for reaching out to me and the society to organise this day. He did a brilliant job on poaching me for information on the Guide you were given and taking your bookings. While we tried and hopefully succeed in creating a "rarely" timetabled day! (Our first time table in Many years ! )

You might ask just how proud we were to hold the the first event?
Well No1 has had a new feature added she has never had before! She now has a pair of lamp brackets mounted at either end on the locomotive allowing her to carry headboards! And she looked brilliant.

We look forward to seeing more of the Rail Riders Club visitors in the future!

Thankyou so much to you all for your kind donations and funds you raised as part of the day !

Are you part of the new rail riders ?

If so you can join other rail riders members in the rare opportunity to tour our rail network on 3 forms of traction!

Firstly, steelworks resident diesel on the brakevans.

Then "Cranford" our steam engine will be taking over. After that a stop at the sheds for teas, coffee and the gift shop and hopefully shed tours for those who are interested.

Finally we will round off the day with our pacer. This will be the first time the pacer has carried passengers since she came into our care.

It has been many years since we have operated multiple tours and traction in one day and could be well worth checking out !

And a couple more............
Some more photos from yesterday's brilliant trip to Scunthorpe.......
Absolutely Terrific day at Scunthorpe Steelworks yesterday, superbly organised and provided by the AFRPS and Rail Riders. Has to be one of the best railway experiences possible, with a train of guards vans plus a circuit of the railway system in a Pacer, there really is nothing like it. A repeat is very necessary. Many thanks to all of the folks at AFRPS and Rail Riders for all of the hard work and warm welcome.
Many thanks for providing a brilliant day out with Rail Riders today. A warm welcome and a superb tour and workshop visit plus shop and café. Fantastic.
SAVE BOURNE BRIDGE 234 CAMPAIGN ON BBC TV BBC Look North has carried a news item about the classic three-arch Midland & Great Northern Joint Railway Bridge 234, Bourne’s last surviving significant publicly-accessible railway-built structure from the days when the Lincolnshire town was a four-way junction. Campaigners want to prevent it from imminent demolition to make way for part of a park on a new housing development in Elsea Park, and restore and maintain it through a charitable trust at no cost to the public purse.
Thank you so much for a fabulous experience and brilliant birthday present driving around the steelworks on Pacer 144017. Had a great time and a fantastic group of volunteers who run it. Can’t recommend it enough, must be the best driving experience in the country 😀👍
From todays brakevan tour
Hi Everyone - I hope it is ok to post this here. I am researching this bridge (since taken down) that was in Scunthorpe by Queen Street. I am making an artwork about this bridge and memories shared by the local Scunthorpe community. I know it went over a railway line that went into the steelworks and wondered if anyone has any more info or memories about it they would be happy to share. The Scunthorpe Memories group on facebook pointed me to this group. I'm interested in forgotten and abandoned places and the bridge holds a lot of dear and cherished memories for local people. I've currently an exhibition on at the 20:21 gallery in Scunthorpe town centre and when it opens (covid permitting) I will be adding this piece to the show. The photographer of this photo John Turner has given me permission to use for research purposes. Thank you for any help Melanie :-)
Hey Mathew Jackson we need a day out there one day or you need to book a pacer drive day ,i don't been there done that 😏
What I believe to be Dawes Lane Signal Box (Internal to the works?) 1982.
