Winner of the Wellcome Photography Prize 2025, and recipient of Female in Focus (The British Journal of Photography) and LensCulture Critics’ Choice Awards, Sujata Setia is an internationally recognised artist exploring identity, migration and belonging.

Her work has been exhibited at Somerset House, Times Square in New York and FORMAT International Photography Festival, bringing global attention to voices and experiences that are often underrepresented.

Setia's work is now on display at Scarborough Art Gallery as part of Aesthetica Art Prize 20 - an exhibition programme celebrating 20 years of the Prize, across North Yorkshire.

Next time you’re in Woodend, be sure to take a look at the new display of work created by Blueberry Academy.

Blueberry took part in three workshops to explore collections through creativity, working across Woodend, Edith’s Place, and the stores. By engaging with objects such as a Roman bowl, oil lamp, giant clam shell, costume, toys, taxidermy, and photographs, they looked for connections to their own lives and stories.

Using these artefacts as inspiration, the group reflected on their interests and created their own interpretations through clay pinch pots (pictured) and painted motifs. Together, this process helped shape 'The Museum of Us' - a shared, creative exploration of identity and storytelling.
