We are excited to have Viking-era items from the Talnotrie Hoard, loaned courtesy of National Museums Scotland on display from now to the end of the season. Remember that if you have a ticket already, you can return any time this year to see the objects. Our thanks to Dr. Adrian Maldonado for help with interpreting these amazingly intricate objects, Dr. Alice Blackwell, Dr. Martin Goldberg and Keming D**g for installing, to Robyn Matthews for help and some great colouring sheets, Anne Ramsbottom and Stranraer Museum for loan of the Islamic dirham fragment.

It was great to meet up with the The Pictish Arts Society and Adrian Maldonado for a tour of the site, the roundhouse with Ruaridh Soutar and the Historic Scotland Museum with Debbie Lorraine McClymont. We enjoyed having visitors today from Louisiana, with a whistle-stop tour of 2500 years of history. Thanks to Peter Buxton, Debbie Lorraine McClymont and Ruaridh Soutar for coordinating the tours. They were intrigued by the mediaeval woodworking yard on the Glebe Field.

You never know where more photographic evidence of the Whithorn Excavations will turn up! Kindly lent by Margerie Clark, the "Book of Whithorn", carefully typewritten by Bill Barron, then custodian of the Priory, contains black and white photos, including this one of skeletons unearthed in 1984, four years before the Whithorn Trust was incorporated. The book contains many other fascinating records of pilgrimage, including the walk from Carfin.
