Our Story
theAgency. is a slow programming and longterm sustainable space with focus on global and socially reflective art by emerging and mid-career artists.The gallery's curated programme is renowned for early shows with artists such as Douglas Gordon, Zoe Leonard, Ken Lum, Rebecca Warren, Karin Hanssen and showcasing historical positions by Mary Beth Edelson (* 1933), Franco Vaccari (* 1935), Man Ray (1890-1976) in a contemporary context. Off-site curatorial projects include: 'a portrait in fragments: Theresa Hak Kyung Cha (1951-82)'with the KCC and ICA London and 'Positioning Nigerian Modernism- Ben Enwonwu (1917-94)' with Tate Modern as well as further research oriented projects and publications.
