About the Dutch Centre The Dutch Centre in London kicked off in 2013 with a diverse programme showcasing the very best of Dutch arts and culture. We aim to provide a unique focal point for the promotion of Dutch culture and heritage in the UK. The programme of the Dutch Centre offers a wide variety of events; screening the newest Dutch films, talks and lectures, literature nights, live comedy, concerts and exhibitions by Dutch artists and designers. Our fantastic venue at Austin Friars gives us a prime location to host exciting events. Our audience The Dutch Centre is not just for Dutch people living in the UK but also attracts a much wider audience from in and around London. We aim to reach out to everyone interested in arts and culture or those who want to learn more about the rich cultural life The Netherlands has to offer. Thus events are either held in English or have English subtitles/translation.

Mission: Our attitude is to be bold, modern and confident. We believe in bringing you a venue and programme that is welcoming, inclusive and fun. You can expect a variety of regular events as well as special occasions that will be reflective, educational, diverse and thought provoking.

In light of the most recent developments around the Coronavirus (COVID-19) we have now postponed our March and April events. The safety and well-being of our visitors, staff and volunteers is our utmost priority.
Below an overview of the events:

Chernobyl: Poetic Decay which was due to take place last Thursday has been postponed until September.

Other postponed events are:

Bach Cantata - 26 April

Live Brexit Podcast at The Bolton - ‪28 March‬

King's Day 2020 - ‪25 April‬

The organising parties, The Dutch Church, The Dutch Centre, Koning Willem Fonds and Vereniging Neerlandia have decided to postpone this year's King's Day event, but aim to paint the town orange this summer. Not just as a delayed celebration of King Willem-Alexander's birthday, but also to acknowledge and toast to us all coming together again.

We will keep you informed of any updates via our newsletter and also we suggest you keep an eye on our social media and website for further announcements and information.

Look after yourselves, stay safe and healthy everyone.

Thank you for your ongoing support,
The Dutch Centre

Like the rest of the country, we have been closely following the situation around the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Unfortunately we've had to take the difficult decision to postpone our upcoming event, Chernobyl: Poetic Decay, which was scheduled for Thursday 19th March, until September. All other events are currently planned to go ahead, but do keep an eye on our website and social media for possible cancellations or postponing of events.

Below you can read our approach for dealing with the coronavirus (COVID-19). Please get in touch if you have any question or concerns.

For the Dutch Centre the safety and well-being of our visitors and staff is our utmost priority.

We are carefully following the official guidance from Professor Chris Whitty, the Chief Medical Officer for England and Chief Medical Adviser to the UK Government, who is himself an epidemiologist.

We have taken appropriate actions to safeguard hygiene in line with the WHO basic protective measures. This means there will be hand sanitizer and ample opportunities for good hand washing.

We will give updates on the situation in our weekly newsletter, our website, and on social media.

If we have to postpone events, ticketholders will be informed via the email that was submitted at the moment of purchase. The new date will be communicated as soon as the event has been rescheduled. In case you are not able to attend the event on the new date, you ticket will be refunded.

If we have to cancel events, we will publicize this immediately on our website and social media. If you’re planning to visit on of our events, please look at our website and social media for the latest information.

In the event of a cancellation, ticketholders will be informed via email and purchased tickets will be refunded. The email address that was submitted at the moment of purchase will be used for said communications. If you chose not to attend an event that is going ahead, you are not eligible for a refund.

Thank you for your on going support.

At our opening night tomorrow's Low Countries Film Festival we kick off with UNLOST, a cinematic concert about the ever increasing contemporary melancholy, fear and the alienation between different cultural groups in society.

Captivating songs by the French composer Olivier Messiaen will be performed live alongside a projection of a short silent film, which was written and directed especially for these songs. A beautiful concept by soprano Florien Hilgenkamp.
