At the centre of Claude Chabrol's films is a simple proposition: beneath the surface of ordinary life, something has already begun to unravel.

Presented alongside the BFI retrospective, we’re excited to present Claude Chabrol: Elements of Crime – a season bringing together seven defining works by one of French cinema’s most incisive filmmakers.

Patient, precise and laced with mordant humour, Chabrol’s thrillers expose the tensions simmering beneath relationships, families and communities, with an unsparing eye.

Last chance to visit She Flickered In and Out of History ⌛

In 1831, a volcanic landform emerged between Sicily and Tunisia, sparking a sovereignty dispute before disappearing back beneath the sea just six months later.

Accompanied by a score by duendita and a poem by Megan Fernandes, Elisa Giardina Papa’s 18-minute video work and glass installation revisits this extraordinary episode, exploring the island’s elemental refusal.

In association with Mute (MUTE), we’re pleased to announce that Duet Emmo will join ICA’s October In the Round series for a world premiere performance.

The sole collaboration between The Normal’s Daniel Miller and Wire’s Graham Lewis and B.C. Gilbert, Duet Emmo first assembled at Blackwing Studio in London nearly 45 years ago to record Or So It Seems – an assemblage of electronic sound collage, drone and abstract art pop.

Their pioneering hybrid electronics are reflected in the project’s name – an anagram of Mute and Dome – and in the album’s striking artwork: a collage by the Brothers Quay, redesigned by Bart van Damme.

Nearly four and a half decades after they first came together, Duet Emmo will perform live for the first time in the round, and using d&b Soundscape, the venue’s 360° spatial soundsystem.
