A distinct sharpness from foreground to background is exhibited in Marsh's paintings. His description of light alters according to the seasons and the architectural influences of each city. His use of paint is similarly precise and consistent, with a meticulous technique that involves layering colour and information until reaching a pinnacle of extreme clarity. By capturing a city's unique beauty, Christian Marsh creates paintings that are visually intoxicating.

For Igor Levashov, flowers are a fascinating subject. They give an endless variety of shapes, colours and character to many different emotions. From an artistic perspective, his task has always been to find different ways to express a realistic view with a contemporary appeal. His fascination for painting flowers originates from the realisation that every flower is unique. To illustrate its individual beauty became the main objective of his paintings. This makes the viewer feel like they are jumping out of the frame in an explosion of colour.

Delftware vase with glass jar holding a goldfish (Carassius auratus).

Due to its characteristic qualities related to holding, pouring, and flowing, the vase is a universal representation of the Feminine Life Source and symbolizes emotion, abundance, and acceptance.

The transparency of the water and the glass jar both represent purity, spiritual perfection, and knowledge. They hold a graceful goldfish, by tradition a symbol of good fortune associated with abundance and prosperity.

Tempus Memores means ‘Time to Remember’ in Latin. It symbolizes the importance of taking the time to reminisce, to celebrate and mourn, and to reflect on the past.

Artist in Focus: Mike Francis
1938 - 2023

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Mike Francis has died after a long ilness.

Influenced by his previous work as a commercial illustrator, British artist Mike Francis gave his Hyperrealist work a more imaginary approach. Mixing natural landscapes with elements of the urban as the backdrop for his subjects, he creates a narrative where viewers are invited to interpret and add to. His works blurs the boundaries between the real and the imaginary, to the point where they become indistinguishable.

You might have seen my latest painting on my last post at Plus One Gallery, but here it is in detail.
"Fluevog Bliss", 122x122 cm (48"x48"), acrylic on canvas.
A selection from John Fluevog Shoes. Some of these are designed by Dame Zandra Rhodes, I've been painting a few of her designs recently, she's designed for royalty and celebrity, and perhaps is most famous for designing many of the costumes worn by Freddie Mercury and Brian May from Queen. I hope to paint some of those soon :-)
