It was such a pleasure to welcome you to our HQ. And your quilt is beautiful. Lovely quilting and the colour is so well preserved. Thank you so much for coming.

Being High Sheriff takes you to all sorts of interesting places you may not have known about before - like for me a lovely afternoon spent visiting ladies who volunteer in the Quilt Association based in the Minerva Arts Centre in Llanidloes. They have a huge collection of different quilts, many dating back to the 1800's, all beautifully stored in the correct environment. Here they are looking at one that had been in my husband's family for - who knows how long?!

We had a wonderful workshop in Minerva this weekend with making little bird houses. We had such fun doing these, learning from Suzette (and each other) and laughing a lot! I think it's fair to say we were well pleased with the results. Thank you to Suzette for putting up with us all with great patience and good humour!!! We loved it!!!

Open again today until Saturday between 10.30 and 4.30, Now and Then - work by Linda and Laura Kemshall in Gallery 1. All of these pieces, in Gallery 2, were made by four of Laura's students - Christine Newman, Marie Schwarz, Carol Shenton and Julie Wood. Beautiful work! Come and see for yourself!

A busy day in Minerva with lots of visitors to our new exhibition, Now and Then, featuring work by Linda and Laura Kemshall. The pop-up shop's been popular too, especially Lou's pottery and Gill's glass. And the fabric, but of course I've got enough in my stash already!! Oh. Go on then 🤣 Don't forget you can Meet The Artists tomorrow between 12 and 2.

Our Spring exhibition is fast approaching and were looking forward to displaying the work of Linda and Laura Kemshall on the walls in Minerva. It's an exhibition which features both past and current work and, in our rear gallery, we are also showing work by Laura's students. PLUS don't miss the Meet The Artists event on Sunday 27th April between 12 and 2pm. Looking forward to this!!

All of the quilts in our collection are given numbers when we accession them. This begins with a year and then whatever number we've got to. If we get a few quilts donated together, we then add a letter too. The boxes we keep them in are all in order in our quilt store, from the earliest to the latest. But of course, they have other names the Trustees and volunteers use for quick reference to help us remember them eg The Shepherd's Quilt, The Bowtie Quilt, The Blue Cross Quilt. Here's a quilt we documented recently. The Germolene Quilt. If you know, you know. (Other antiseptic creams are available).
