Would you like to help ...
Linlithgow Union Canal Society (LUCS), continues to attract a large amount of visitors to the town, and yet it is run entirely by volunteers. But you don’t have to be a boat fanatic to get involved. Our helpers include Museum Attendants / Curators, Gardeners, Tea Room Helpers, Painters, Electricians, Joiners, Admin staff, Web Designers, Marketing , Media and PR personnel and the many other activities needed to keep the Canal Centre at the forefront of Scotland’s (and Linlithgow’s) favourite family destinations and tourist trail. But if you want to help with the boats, then that’s OK too !!!
You name it, and we could probably use your skills or help you expand your interests or hobbies, and you can put in as much or as little time as you wish.
If you would like to help in any way, why not drop us an email, or come along to the canal basin on a Wednesday or Saturday morning when you will be able to discuss how you can get involved with one of our active members, or just enjoy a cup of coffee around our cosy log fire.
You will be made very welcome

The funny thing about many electric boats is that most people don't really notice them, because they don't look odd at all. They are just out there every day, doing their workaday job. Quietly, economically, and cleanly.
I really enjoyed meeting some of the folk at the Linlithgow Canal Centre (Scotland) this summer, and going for a ride in one of their sturdy little electric day hireboats, as a guest of the unsung but cheery voluntary society that helps keep the canal itself alive:

Thanks a lot for hosting the Veg Boat at the weekend. We had a great day and your volunteers were friendly and helpful as always. There is a wee video on the Narrowboat Farm page, or on youtube:

We hired the St Magdalene to celebrate a significant birthday. The cruise appeals to all ages. The crew, Alistair and Anne were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable and made the day extra-special for us all. Thank you.
