🎨✨ Calling all artists and creatives who want to be involved in Light Up Leigh! 💡

We’re looking for parade makers and a production manager who can support local residents and bring the Light Up Leigh Parade to life. You’ll be part of a special programme of making and moving across Leigh, collaborating with dancers, artists, and musicians. 🎶🎭

We’re especially keen to hear from local creatives based in Leigh/Wigan who are eager to develop their skills in outdoor arts. 🌟

This project is presented by Down to Earth, Wigan’s Creative People and Places initiative, funded by Arts Council England and delivered in partnership with WigLe Dance CIC, Everyday, and The Turnpike Gallery. Supported by Wigan Council and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Wigan Council is delighted to announce the launch of a new funding programme for cultural & heritage organisations, or individuals working in these fields, based in Wigan and projects taking place in the Borough which are public facing or involve a significant amount of public/community engagement.

The Cultural Development Match Funding Grant is a pilot scheme where the council is providing match funding for applications with the potential to bring additional investment to the borough.

Applications can be made anytime until March 2025, but there is a limited amount available and funding is awarded on a “first come first serve” basis.

Applicants can submit a request for up to £2,000 per application.

To celebrate the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize exhibition coming to Leigh, The Turnpike Gallery team are popping up at libraries across the borough to share fun and creative drawing activities for all!

Join us to make your very own drawing folio and try your hand at our drawing challenges inspired by the amazing works in our exhibition.

We had a fantastic first pop-up workshop today at Tyldesley Library making carbon mono-prints and drawing folios, and experimenting with exquisite co**se drawings.

We were inspired by David Bixter Design's amazing printing technique from our previous Saturday family workshop, and visitors to Tyldesley Library enjoyed exploring this new method of drawing.

Join us at our next free pop-up workshop on Wednesday 21st August, from 10am-12pm, at Hindley Library & Community Centre.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to the 2023 Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize exhibition!

The 2023 edition marks the 30th year of the annual exhibition. The open call for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2023 received 3,045 submissions from 1,450 candidates from 40 countries. From this submission, 123 drawings by 111 practitioners were selected overall for the exhibition.

The Summer Festival of Drawing will celebrate the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize exhibition coming to The Turnpike Gallery. The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize is coming to The Turnpike Gallery!

The prize, formerly known as the Jerwood Drawing Prize, is widely regarded as the most prestigious open exhibition dedicated to drawing in the UK. The Turnpike Gallery is the final venue of the tour and the only one in the north west. Come along to see over 100 contemporary drawings from a diverse range of practices and styles.
