My interest in the Orient lies in the history of my ancestry, my grandfather was Burmese and was reported missing in the mid 30’s. After a close relationship with my father, shortened by his death when I was only 23 years old; made me inquisitive about him and the secrets that surrounded his ances
tors. In 2003 I suffered a long spell of illness, spending three months critical, a near death experience with eight years convalescence period, unable to paint, made me re-examine life, making promises to travel, to produce art and positively recreate myself. Series 4– Ideological Ambiance. I have used both traditional and contemporary practice in producing my work. Computer imagery juxtaposed on painted and wooden surfaces enable the narrative element of my work to exist on a number of levels. My work represents both Eastern and western fundamentals on both a metaphysical and personal level. Emblematizing what I see to be a spiritual and natural beauty and my desire to depict the pursuit of my individuality experiences that have formed my life.
