Are you ready for the Summer Solstice? ☀️ At 09:24 BST on Sunday the northern hemisphere will reach its greatest tilt towards the Sun. The summer solstice is the day with the longest hours of daylight and shortest night of the year.

🌍 You might think, with it being summer, that Earth must be at its closest to the Sun in its orbit. But we're actually at the farthest point from the Sun in our orbit. Rather than distance, the seasons are caused by Earth's tilt. It is summer in the UK when the northern hemisphere is tilted towards the Sun.

Tim spent the day talking to visitors and students about his time in space and how he feels about his Principia mission 10 years on 👩‍🚀

Live from the Planetarium at the National Space Centre, we're celebrating 10 years since UK ESA - European Space Agency astronaut Tim Peake returned to Earth from his Principia mission to the International Space Station.

Ben Brusey, Publishing Director at Penguin Random House, hosts a special Ask an Astronaut session with Tim. Tim will share insights from his Principia mission and reflect on life and work in the decade since returning to Earth.

🧑‍🚀 10 years ago, 18 June 2016, Tim Peake returned to Earth after six months on the International Space Station.

🇬🇧 Tim was the first British ESA astronaut, the first Brit to spacewalk, he took part in over 250 science experiments in space, and helped teach and inspire millions of kids in the UK and across the world.

🚀 We're excited to welcome Tim to the National Space Centre today to celebrate a decade since his Principia mission, with fun activities, Q&As in the Planetarium, and a chance for visitors to have their books signed.
