The exhibition will be at Rusper Village Hall Sat 31 Oct - 1 November 10am - 4pm.

I gave up work to focus on my art. Surely, that meant I’d spend all day painting and everything would fall into place?

Well… not quite!

I’m discovering that making more time for your art is one thing. Working out what you want from it, dealing with the doubts and figuring out where to go next is quite another.

I’m sharing some honest reflections on what happened and the things I’m learning along the way.

Because being an artist isn’t just about making the work. It’s also about finding the courage to put it out into the world.

I’ve written about it in my latest Art Journal over on The T Shed. If you’re an artist, a fellow creative, or simply curious about what goes on behind the scenes of an artist’s life, I’d love you to have a read.

Read the full journal link in bio.

And thank you to SAM MARSHALL | Artist for helping me navigate this creative adventure! (She is an excellent Art Coach) ❤️

My dear boy passed away last night. I have written this poem as I think there are other mad cat owners who will understand how it is to loose the worst cat you have ever owned.

NEROPA
2000 and something - 2026

“He was truly the worst cat I have ever had.”

He fell into my arms,
All fluffy and sweet,
With questionable charms
And four troublesome feet.

His little white socks,
His pantaloon legs,
His face like a cherub,
His psychopath head.

He loved nothing that walked upon four feet
Especially dogs
Who he considered as meat
He would leap on their backs
And with a murderous cry
send them squealing

“When did cats fly?”

He was truly the worst cat i have ever had

A slipper of p**s,
A puddle on the floor
And then as if not enough
he p**sed some more

He p**sed on my books
and often on my bed
This terrible cat
even p**sed on my head

He was truly the worst cat I have ever had.

Nine lives you could say he was close to death
He had ear mites when i found him
that rendered him deaf

Cat flu didnt get him,
nor the urine infection
Nor falling three floors
from a balcony section

He was thunder in trousers.
A demon in fur.
A small furry lunatic,
A big fight of fluffy blur

He was truly the worst cat I have ever had.

And now the house is quieter.
The garden feels strange.

There’s no Psycho patrolling,
No murderous range.

No leap from the shadows,
No deranged little stare,
No furious cat
Who was suddenly there.

He was truly the worst cat I have ever had.

How can something so terrible leave a big hole?

How can something so maddening
Get right into your soul?

Because above everything,
He has made me so so sad.

This terrible cat that made me so mad

This ridiculous creature, this furry old git,
So fluffy and cute yes that must be it!

Because against logical reason
he got right under my skin.

And perhaps that's the question...

who is madder me or him?

P.S. I will be making a batch of affordable original cat paintings to buy online in October to help cover the vet bills. but more about that later

❤️

After killing so many house plants in my life the dream of growing veg seemed like a fantasy until I started following Martha Swales and Jamie Walton | Nettles & Petals honestly if you feel you can’t do it follow them and listen to their podcast! Anyway turns out Martha loves her cat MO as much as her garden. So you know how I love to paint a hidden cat! So here is a little pic I made of Mo hiding in Martha’s garden. Fine Art Prints are available in my shop. Link in my bio ♥️♥️ 🌼🐈‍⬛

By popular demand, Hidden is now available as a fine art print.

Hidden amongst the undergrowth of my unruly garden is the watcher of all things moving.

Freda is always there, always checking what’s going down in the garden.

What this painting doesn’t hide is my obsession with Calendula. I love its brilliant colour, beautiful fragrance and amazing medicinal qualities.

Hidden is now available as a fine art print on archival paper, or as a framed canvas.

I always encourage people to join or make a local art group. I joined my village art group which meets every week and has done for over half a century!!! We all bring our own projects and materials and take it in turns once a month to create a still life. This week Sue brought in her teddy bears. I love that, I would never think of drawing or painting teddy bears! So much fun thank you

New Studio Journal Entry, if you want a feel good short read

Valentine’s Day was never really my thing. Anonymous cards I always found creepy. These days it’s less of a concern being both older and a nun has its perks. However when the manager of Rusper Village Store mentioned that he had not organised Valentine’s things this year, I heard myself say…...

Last day today at the Rusper Art Show.
It’s been such a joy sharing Summer, Breeze, Elements and Summer into Autumn — four paintings that trace the shifting moods of light, colour and calm.
If you’re nearby, come and see them in person at Rusper Village Hall — they really do look different “in the flesh.”
And for those who can’t make it, fine art prints are available online now via [the link in bio] ✨
Thank you to everyone who’s stopped by, shared kind words, or simply paused for a moment with the work. 💛

NEW painting “Breeze”
A quietly emerging ochres, greens with light shifting like air. That feeling of walking through long grass in summer. It’s about that calm between things… the stillness that exists with before movement.
You can see Breeze in the flesh this weekend at the Rusper Art Show — open today and tomorrow.
And for those who can’t make it, I’ve made fine art prints available online for this weekend only ✨
Find them via [the link in bio] — a little piece of calm to bring home.
