She Rose 165 Mortimer Street She Rose is an independent art gallery in Herne Bay, Kent. The building itself dates back to the 1840's and is older than the town itself.

Featuring original prints and paintings by artist Jo Oakley, artist led workshops and a selection of curated gifts. Following the complete restoration of the the building the gallery is now open. She Rose is the for glorious artistic community of Herne Bay and exhibits the work of Jo Oakley as well as curated exhibitions from established and new talent. Regular workshops take place with the emphasis of inclusivity for all age ranges and abilities.

She Rose On Tour

It’s that time again…

For the fourth (or possibly fifth!) year, I’m packing up She Rose and taking myself down the road to Show Off Gallery in Whitstable for my annual solo pop-up.

I absolutely love doing this, a whole week in Whitstable with new work, prints and pieces from the studio.

I love the wonderfully loose, inky quality you can get from Tetra Pak printmaking.

These beautiful prints were made on previous workshops — using an ordinary drinks carton as the printing plate.

My next Tetra Pak workshop is coming up at Jo Oakley . It’s a playful, accessible way into printmaking, with no previous experience needed.

A group of six friends booked a Tetra Pak course which took place today. Everyone arrived with different experiences of making, different ideas, and their own way of seeing the world, but because they already knew one another there was such an easy generosity in the room. It is such a pleasure when people surprise themselves with what they make…I’m really annoyed with myself for not photographing all of the outcomes ! Thank you guys for bringing such warmth, curiosity and openness to the studio. Days like this remind me why I love sharing printmaking.
