Today we will be welcoming Year 4 children and their teachers from Shade Primary who have just completed their history unit about the Cragg Vale Coiners.

We will be screening our film, “Weight In Gold” and a guided tour of the village with the help of volunteers, Michael and Pamela. Do say hello if you see them in the village.

A reminder that the regular Researching Heptonstall group is meeting today, Saturday 17 October, at the Bowling Club from 11am to 1pm.

For anyone interested in finding out more about the history of their family, house or any aspect of village life. Feel free to bring along any photographs, documents or items of interest.

We are grateful to them for their help in our latest exhibition on Heptonstall’s Hundred, which continues at the museum. A heads up we are closing slightly earlier today for a private event this evening.

*Late opening today - 3 October*

We’ll be opening slightly later today while we’re making some updates to our current exhibition - Heptonstall’s Hundred.

Support from the community and beyond in bringing history to life through the collection of objects connected to the village has been wonderful. Our small shop features work by local creatives from poets, authors, crafts and our latest is a beautiful illustrated bookmark from Talya Baldwin Illustration based on the last exhibition of objects relating to The Gallows Pole.
