🪓👀 LIZZIE BORDEN IS COMING TO NETFLIX... AND WE HAVE HER STORY HERE AT THE MUSEUM! 👀🪓

Netflix is bringing the infamous Lizzie Borden story to screens with Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, the fourth instalment of the hit anthology series from Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan. The series arrives on Netflix on 17th September and explores the notorious 1892 axe murders of Lizzie Borden's father and stepmother.
And if you're fascinated by the case, you can discover more about Lizzie Borden right here at The True CRIME Museum! 🔎

🪓 Our Lizzie Borden exhibit features replicas of the skulls associated with the case, along with a replica of the axe connected to one of America's most infamous unsolved crimes.

Lizzie was acquitted of the murders, but the case has remained a source of fascination for more than 130 years. 👀

Today is the day! 🥳 On 22nd August, The True CRIME Museum celebrates 12 incredible years of bringing fascinating, chilling and sometimes downright bizarre true crime stories to Hastings! 🖤🔍

Over the years, we've continued to grow and add new experiences for our visitors. From some of our most memorable exhibits, including:

🔬 2017 – The Crime Lab opens!
When we first opened in 2014, we didn't have a Crime Lab. Three years later, in 2017, we opened its doors and introduced visitors to the fascinating worlds of Entomology, Odontology and Odourology.

🛍️ 2019 – The Shop expands!
As the museum continued to grow, so did our shop! In 2019, we expanded it, giving visitors even more opportunities to take a little piece of the museum home with them.

And now, 12 years later, we're still here, still growing and still uncovering the darker side of history! 🖤

🎂🔎 TO CELEBRATE OUR 12TH BIRTHDAY, LET'S LOOK BACK AT OUR MOST POPULAR EVENT FROM THE PAST 12 YEARS! 🔎🎂

Over the years, we've hosted all sorts of weird, wonderful and downright creepy events at The True CRIME Museum... but one has always stood out from the crowd:
👣🔪 THE CRIME WALK OF HASTINGS! 🔪👣

Taking place during the summer and Halloween, our Crime Walk took visitors out of the museum and into the streets of Hastings, uncovering the fascinating criminal history hiding in some of the town's most unsuspecting locations.

Some cases were old, some new, some creepy, some tragic... and one was pure comedy! 👀

🩸 Discover the bloody consequences of a young bike gang member being taunted and mocked one time too far.

🔫 Hear the shocking and tragic story of the only murder committed in Hastings during WWII.

💀 Learn about the furious town-centre clash that left a Hastings Observer columnist dead from a gunshot to the head.

From cutthroats and hell-raisers to road rats and everything in between, the Crime Walk revealed a side of Hastings that you might never notice on an ordinary stroll through town.

Our curator Joel Griggs described the event as:
“A fascinating insight into Hastings’ criminal history... an eerie after-hours tour taking you on a journey through time, exploring intriguing cases and stumbling upon some interesting and unsuspecting locations.”

🔬🕵️ A LOOK BACK AT THE CRIME LAB! 🕵️🔬

Did you know that when The True CRIME Museum first opened its doors in 2014, we didn't actually have a Crime Lab? 👀

It wasn't until 2017 that we opened the doors to our very own Crime Lab, adding a whole new way for visitors to discover the science behind crime! 🧪🔍

Today, our Crime Lab explores three fascinating areas of forensic science:
🪰 ENTOMOLOGY – the study of insects and the clues they can provide during an investigation.
🦷 ODONTOLOGY – the study of teeth and how dental evidence can help identify individuals.
👃 ODOUROLOGY – the study of smells and how scent can play a part in forensic investigations.
