Harlow Museum Harlow Museum & Walled Gardens is a local, free museum with over 1000 years of captured history.

We are an accessible and engaging heritage and cultural resource that celebrates the people, communities and places of Harlow, ensuring a meaningful and enjoyable experience for all. Our gallery spaces share and highlight the history of the town from the Iron Age to the present day. The site is also home to three historical gardens set across two acres of lush green space with a seating area, perfect for picnics. Looking for hands-on activities for kids this Autumn half term? Here’s what’s coming up at Harlow Museum…

🔍 Messy Archaeology: Build and Dig
🗓 Tuesday 27 October | 10am – 12pm & 1pm – 3pm

Bury secret treasures in plaster, then dig and uncover them like real archaeologists. Bring small treasures from home (coins, beads) or use ours. It will get messy, so please wear old clothes!

• Price: £4 per child
• Age: Strictly 7+

🌰 Craft with Conkers
🗓 Thursday 29 October | 10am – 12pm & 1pm – 3pm

Turn shiny autumn conkers into race cars, quirky creatures, or jewellery, and felt a cosy woollen case for your favourite one. All materials provided.

Harlow Museum & Walled Gardens are open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, 9:30am-3:30pm (last entry 3pm). Entry is free. Parking for cars and bikes at the rear of the building.

Lady Patricia’s passion for the arts was instrumental in building Harlow’s sculpture collection. To mark her centenary, join us for a drop-in workshop to make your own sculpture-inspired pop-up card.

We were delighted to hear from our friends at Harlow Art Trust that Willi Soukop's much beloved Donkey is back at home in Pittmans Field.

As you can see from this newspaper article, the Harlow Art Trust set out with the unusual aim of providing sculpture to be placed at the heart of the community.
