Three nights to go until curtain up on the world premiere of A REGULAR TERROR. We're on an 8-date tour across Yorkshire, Lancashire and Derbyshire and are all getting a wee bit excited now!

Come and find out about the incredible engineer and suffragette who inspired so many and gave her name to this bridge at Salterhebble, Halifax.

Unfortunately due to the high winds our gazebo got blown away yesterday in Manor Heath so we can’t be at the Halifax Charity Gala today. We are obviously gutted not only to miss the gala but we now have a broken gazebo.

We will still be in the procession so look out for us.

And in the museum we will be steaming again.
And as added treat we gave some Morris dancers visiting during the day to dance in our yard.

We've got a busy weekend ahead.

Its Halifax Charity Gala this Saturday 13th June. We have our lovely Wrigley three wheeler truck in the procession to Manor Heath driven by David Williams. We will be in our gazebo on Manor Heath for the day, so come along and see what we do and how you can get involved. You can see a spinning demonstration and try your hand at doffing or peg loom weaving. We are always looking for volunteers to join our team so if you visit our stand we can talk to you about how you can get involved.

If you can't make it to the Gala, we are at the museum all day and we have steam running. When you visit the Power Gallery you will see two of of our stationary steam engines in operation. The volunteers will be happy to talk with you about the development of power throughout the industrial revolution and its importance in Calderdale.

Our four floors of industrial heritage are a fascinating introduction to the importance of industry in Calderdale.

Calderdale Industrial Museum is open every Saturday and also Thursdays in the school holidays 10am to 4pm, with last admission at 3pm. Admission is £7.50 for adults, £6 for concessions, with free entry for children. Find out more about visiting the museum at https://calderdaleindustrial.co.uk/.
Our café is open serving a selection of light lunches, snacks and drinks, where you can take a break during your visit. Our shop has an interesting range of souvenirs from local artists and craftspeople.

Our members will have received an email about our last Wednesday talk. The email heading had the wrong date on it. The talk is tonight June 10th.

There is no talk on June 20th. Apologies for confusion.

We look forward to seeing you tonight if you can join us.

We've added some more steaming dates for the rest of the summer. As always the steam will start about 12 noon and run till 3pm with a half hour break for lunch at 1.30pm.
Please always check the website or social media in case we have to cancel a steaming day, although the museum will remain open even if we can’t run the steam engines. We will give as much notice as possible. We also always have to consider the safety of our staff and visitors so if there is a technical problem with the steam boiler we may have to cancel at short notice.

The remaining dates are June 13th & 27th, July 11th & 25th, August 8th & 22nd and September 5th & 19th.

There are still two weeks left for you to go the the Smith Art Gallery in Brighouse to see David Williams' photographic exhibition. Its been well received around Calderdale and beyond and we are proud to be sharing this excellent exhibition that started its life in the Terry Sutton Gallery here at the museum.

Now, in pride of place, sits a memorial to Halifax's very own Cockleshell Hero.

You can view it anytime outside the Crossley Gallery at Dean Clough.

Its existence is a huge credit to David's family, the wider military family, the Cockleshell 22 team and so many others who have fought to make sure people in Halifax know about David's story and sacrifice.

Volunteer Week 2026

As we approach our Saturday open day its worth remembering that the museum is run entirely by volunteers. This week is Volunteers Week so this is a big shout out to all our wonderful volunteers who make sure the museum is open for your visit.

We can't survive without our open day takings and we can only open when our lovely staff turn up to work. Much of what we do is in the background including collection management and maintenance, exhibitions planning, administration, business activities like marketing and finance and of course visitor services. Thank you to each and every one of you for making the museum the great asset it is.

We are open 10am - 4pm tomorrow with last entry at 3pm. Our volunteer run cafe is open too for lunches and snacks and our shop is filled with wonderful gifts.

Our team had a fantastic time working with the pupils at Ravenscliffe High School. Thank you for inviting us.
